Most of the so-called facts in this book were made up by Pat's ghostwriter Ashton Upson. It has been roundly debunked by historians. Yet as myth-making, it is superb. Many historians have erred in trying to verify this myth. The actual facts of the Kids life were completely different and its highly likely PG and the Kid collaborated to fake his death.

Outside of movies I hadn't read/heard much of Bonneys life. I found this to be quite illuminating.

I found this to be quite an interesting book on William H Bonney (aka Billy The Kid). I wasn't quite sure what to expect from it but found it hard to stop reading. I do have to say that I think the layout that Garrett wrote could have been better and the different sections on Billy's life could have been longer maybe a bit more detailed. But other than that I quite enjoyed this look at Billy and his life as an outlaw through the eyes of Patrick Garrett.

Considering that Garrett was no writer (even though he had a co-writer) this book is very well written. Interesting to read Pat's p.o.v. on the infamous story first hand. You may come away with a different opinion on Garrett as he seems very genuine about his respect for The Kid. And for the price? Very worth it. -Michael
