Autumn Rhymes: A Collection of Poems
In Autumn Rhymes, the verses drift like falling leaves through time and memory, tracing the life journey of a woman in her seventies. As a young city girl, Zhaojin Ji was sent to the countryside during the Cultural Revolution. She passed a tough Chinese national examination to enter Fudan University to study philosophy. Zhaojin then immigrated to the United States, where she has studied, worked, and lived for forty years. Now in the golden age of life, she has weathered decades of life's tempests and quiet sorrows. She is currently embracing a new chapter in life, enjoying retirement and traveling around the world both in luggage and spirit.
Through lyrical and meditative poems, Zhaojin captures fleeting beauty, inner resilience, and the grace of letting go. These poems reflect the solitude and strength of a woman who knows love and tolerance, now walking through nature with a traveler's gaze and a poet's heart.
From Egypt's Pyramids to Athens; from Mexico to Chile; from Cape Town to Namibia's red deserts; from Yellowstone National Park to Mount Fuji. Each poem invites readers into a life that finds renewal in motion, peace in age, and joy in the small, quiet moments.
Perfect for readers seeking poetry infused with reflection, observations, and the timeless rhythm of a life well-lived. Autumn Rhymes is a gentle companion for anyone navigating their own journey.
