All Music Guide - Doug Odell
After solidly establishing themselves on the contemporary heavy music scene, Avenged Sevenfold wasted little time following up their 2005 break-through effort, City of Evil. The band took a bold step on their fourth and self-titled full-length, opting to produce it themselves: a risky task indeed for such a young band. Right out of the gate, singer M. Avenged Sevenfoldism!

As a fan that has been waiting, literally, MONTHS for this album to come out i can honestly say that this is one of the best albums i've heard all year. This is really an album for the true A7X fan. It's not as hard-core or rough as the previous albums, but it's well thought about an exquisitely written. All of the guitar riffs are amazing, and though Zacky and Syn don't sing as much a voice that surprised me was Rev, the drummer. My favorite song on the album was actually written in entirety by him. "a Little Piece Of Heaven" is demented and sounds like TNBC on crack! It's amazing! This is an album that has a little bit of everything!

    love a7x!!!

this cd is awesome i was a little confused on why they went with a less hardcore output, but then i started to remember what they said about this cd being actually who they really are, not just another metal band, and i also have been waiting for MONTHS and months and months always on their myspace page listning to critical acclaim when it came out, and watching the almost easy video when it came out "even though ive been waiting for longer than that " " so yea, id TOTALLY recommend this cd!!!
