Enjoyed this book cover to cover. The equipment sections were well thought out and the author did not try to sell any particular products, but provided only his opinion and what worked best for him. I felt as if I was right beside him on the A.T. His descriptions along the trail were supported by numerous color photographs, which I was able to resize on my Nook. Mr. Allen, thank you for allowing me to accompany you on your adventure and I am glad you finally saw your moose. Good luck on your PCT hike.

    Love this book

Unlike many of the books written about thru-hiking, this book really takes the reader through a day by day account of the hike. It really feels like your reading it as the author really experienced in, complete with grammatical errors! I also really enjoyed the planning sections that went with each chapter, they have helped me take a good look at my own gear even though i'm not thru-hiking just yet.

I really just enjoyed every page!

Love this book- want to get out & start hiking

I'm not a hiker & loved this book! Always though hiking the AT was for fitness people & "professional" hikers. Glad to know I was wrong! Easy to read & great suggestions for planning your own hike whether or not the AT.
