Overview

In order to take control, you often have to let it go…

Carla Johnson thinks issuing orders to a lover will keep her heart safe and leave her in charge of her own destiny. Afraid for Carla’s future, her best friend Heather implores her to change her self-centered ways, handing her a list of love life mistakes to steer clear of:

1. Casual Sex
2. Friends with Benefits
3. Avoidance of Intimacy

Carla ignores the list—unwilling to face she might have a commitment problem. Until she invites a co-worker to her place one night. She instantly regrets the hum-drum sexual encounter and discourages the accountant from pursuing her.

Andy Shea refuses to become another lover the feisty blonde dumps. It'll take a patient man with a strong hand to unlock Carla's sexual awareness and win her heart. He’s up for the challenge to convince her he’s the one—and eager to prove this number cruncher won’t make a boring bedmate.

Avoiding Mr. Right is the second in the Walk on the Wild Side Se

Avoiding Mr. Right is the second in the Walk on the Wild Side Series for C. J. Ellisson. It is an exemplary example of erotic romance that offers so much more than just a great summer beach read. Heather (from Vanilla on Top) shares her concerns with her friend’s love ‘em and leave ‘em attitude. Carla’s character stubbornly insists that she knows what she wants. She just doesn’t realize how much she really does want a real, long lasting relationship.
Andy has his hands full, from the first chapter of the story. Carla doesn’t want to cooperate. We follow his progress with Carla while learning more about his depth of character as an honorable man that any woman would love to have in their lives.
Every emotion one explores in starting a new relationship is examined through the lenses of Carla and Andy’s past experiences. We learn of Carla’s deep seeded fears, of Andy’s desire to have a loving family experience like his folks. The excitement of the ‘firsts’, the realizations of growing desires, and deepening relationship are all explored with the delightful writing style of Ms. Ellisson. You feel like these characters become a part of your family. You feel yourself rooting for them, and wanting to pop them upside the head.
I know this is one book that I’m going to read over and over. I laughed, I cried, and nodded thinking “Amen, Sister” as I read it. It really is one of my favorite books.

Ms Ellisson does it again with the 2nd Walk on the Wild Side book.  Loved getting to see the many layers of Carla and Andy.  Andy had so many ideas up his sleeve, I found myself on the edge of my seat wanting to know what he had in store next. Great job Ms Ellisson!

    Over 18***
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Wow...there is everything in here. Family issues, sickness, relationship problems, heart wrenching sadness and blow your mind sex! Holy cow, the sex. As usual C.J. goes above and beyond in the jaw dropping, fan yourself hawt-damn sex department. But the diversity of "all the other" issues going on here make this book perfection. This can be a total stand alone book.
I received this book for an honest review.....how lucky was that????

Avoiding Mr. Right is the 2nd contemporary romance in a series for C.J. Ellisson. The 1st book, Vanilla on Top, explored the romance between Heather and Tony. In this book, we get to see how things fair for Heather's best friend, Carla. Carla is a misguided woman when it comes to relationships due to events from her past. Andy may just be the man to snap her out of it. He wants to pull her out of her "love'em and leave'em" ways and convince her he is worth her time. He will do whatever it takes to get Carla to believe in him and in them. The lengths he will go to leave you breathless and panting for more.

If you're looking for a book that will grab you from the 1st page and keep you wanting more with every turn, this is DEFINITELY the book for you! I have already added it to my list to be read again :) C.J. is definitely talented no matter which genre she is choosing to write. I promise you won't regret reading her latest!!!!!

Some things are right in front of us and we just dont see them

I thought this was a very endearing story as this happens I am sure so many times, we look and look for the "perfect mate" and sometimes they are directly in our path but we always see them as something different or not what what we think we want.

These two characters have worked side by side daily for months and although they might have thought they knew something about each other; it turns out they knew less than they thought. They found out they were more alike and that their chemistry was more in tune to each other than they also; allowing for contentment and happiness to flow thru. But of course, as humans they chose to find obstacles and fight it until the inevitable happens.

This is a good story and I am glad that I got it when I did. It is a nice addition to my collection. Thanks again C.J. You have done another heart felt storyline

When Heather finds her Mr. Right, she wants to help her friend Carla find hers. Carla doesn't do boring guys. The guy in accounting has been asking her out. How much more boring can you get than an accountant? (don't hate me, I am an accountant and know the jokes!)

When Carla goes to happy hour with others from work, accounting guy was there. Too many drinks and they are in bed together, then she dismisses him.

Can accounting guy break down Carla's walls and make her love him?

Enjoyed good follow up to first book

Although, I didn't think it was quite as good as Vanilla On Top. I enjoyed reading this very much. Ellison is a new author for me and I will definitely choose more of her books.

This is the second book but certainly has just as much sizzle. I fell right into the storyline and page after page wanted to keep reading. These characters fought to be together and their journey kept me interested in reading on. I loved the flow and can't wait for the next book from this author!

I loved the second book in the Wild Side series. I will refer to this one as "when friends with benefits goes right!!" Carla is the good time girl always wanting a different guy not wanting to be tied down to just one because we all know that's how heart breaks happen. But HAH!! She wasnt expecting Andrew from work to come into her life and NOT take "back off" or "go away" to mean she was serious. Andrew shows her a side of her self that she didnt even know she liked and thats when you do the "one more chapter" eye cross dance. Cant wait for the next one to come out!

This is book two in a series that I certainly reccommend! This book is fun, what she said to him when he helped her into the cab was hysterical. I enjoyed how Carla grew over the course of the book. Andy is an inventive guy that was nice to read about. This is an adult book and while the sex scenes were steamy, well written, and tasteful.
if there was any drawback to the book, it was that it ended too soon. There was one more scene I would have liked to have read. If you like well written erotica that has some spice, this book is for you!

Yet again, C.J. Ellisson delivers a spicy, steamy, well-written

Yet again, C.J. Ellisson delivers a spicy, steamy, well-written piece, with a good amount of drama and characters that draw you in! Carla, Heather's friend, believes that she has to order a man around to get satisfaction, but is always lamenting to Heather how unsatisfying her encounters are! Heather worries about her friend's happiness and gives her a set of rules, which she ignores. Andy, someone she works with, ends up being one of the guys she quickly tries to discard, but he refuses to be dumped by her. He shows her just what she needs by pursuing her and taking charge, showing her that sometimes you have to let go and let someone else control your satisfaction, to be able to be in control. Andy doesn't give up and you get to see more development of both characters along the way, and learn why Carla has such commitment issues, and how Andy helps her overcome them... I loved this book and couldn't put it down!

    Fantasy meets reality

C.J. Ellisson has created another steamy read with this book. If you read her last erotic romance, Vanilla on Top, you will love this book which is Carla's story. You get the passion and heat C.J. is so good at creating with the addition of great character depth. This book has a great balance of fantasy with drama that is totally realistic and relatable. This is a must read.
