DAMON - For twenty-five years he's served as a plaything for the gods. With no memory of his past, he has no way of knowing if this is his ultimate fate, but he senses there has to be more to life.

Damon's hope for more comes in the form of the Sirens' newest recruit. Elysia is unlike any trainee he's ever met. Not only can she remember where she came from-an ability the Sirens block-but she has an instant connection to Damon, one he's never felt and doesn't understand. Soon Damon is willing to do anything to have Elysia. Even risk the wrath of the gods to break her out of Olympus so he can keep her for himself.

But Damon's past isn't a mystery to everyone. Evil forces are at work beneath the surface, and before long, Damon realizes that the connection he shares with Elysia isn't a random coincidence. His fate-and the darkness it brings-was cemented long ago. And when it is finally revealed, no one will be safe.

This is the 8th book in the series and, as the others, it does not disappoint. I was skeptical at the beginning, as it starts 25 years after the events that lead to Ari's return to the Guardians (book 7.5). But it ended up being a terrific story involving Elysia, the now grown-up princess of Argolea and daughter of my favorite couple, queen Isadora and guardian Demetrius. I would not recommend reading it as a stand alone though. I actually read all the books in the series again before starting this one. With so many books and characters, and the considerable time it takes between releases, I had forgotten quite a bit. It helped me enjoyed this book much more and I really enjoyed reading the whole series one more time. I highly recommend it.

I love the Eternal Guardians series and Awakened was perfect. I loved this book! Awakened is the 8th book in Elisabeth Naughton’s Eternal Guardians series. This book can be read as a standalone since the story gives a brief background on characters from the previous books but I highly recommend you start with book 1, Marked, which is currently FREE on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. This is an exciting paranormal series that mixes Greek mythology in a modern day setting. The Argonauts are immortal warriors descended from the greatest Ancient Greek heroes. They are sworn to protect the innocent which often includes battles with evil creatures and power hungry gods. They are also fiercely protective and passionate for their soulmates. Each book revolves around an Argonaut discovering their soulmate so I know there will be romance, action and exciting storylines. Awakened did not disappoint! Without spoiling the story I loved how Awakened has introduced the next generation of the series. This book flashes forward 25 years from the last book so we see the children from the previous couples all grown up. This was a perfect transition to new characters but still continue the original plot of the Argonauts continuous battle with Zeus. I loved the chemistry between Elysia and Damon. They had steamy and heartwarming scenes that proved they were meant for each other. The humorous scenes with the Fates add fun to the story and also a sneak peek at the next book. I love Elisabeth Naughton’s writing. With every book I know I’ll get an exciting story with characters I’ll fall in love with. I loved Awakened and I can’t wait to read more from this series. I highly recommend this book to paranormal fans looking for a story filled with action, adventure and romance.

Damon and Elysia are both interesting characters. I liked seeing their attraction grow, although some of the push/pull was a little frustrating. I liked seeing them work together as Elysia was dealing with her training. I had only read a couple books earlier in the series and while this didn't impact my relating to Damon and Elysia and enjoying them, there were some plot points in the overall arc and some of the secondary characters that seemed a little confusing. I received a copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the eighth book in the Eternal Guardian's series. I loved it! Damon is a wonderful character. I really liked him. He is a strong warrior. However, he has no memory of his life before waking up in Olympus twenty-five years previously. Not only is he Aphrodite's plaything, he also helps Athena train the Sirens. When a recruiting exercise goes awry, he finds himself intrigued with his rescuer. Elysia is also a wonderful character. I really liked this feisty woman. She is determined to avoid the marriage her parents are planning for her. However, before she can escape into the human realm, she is kidnapped. Trapped on an island full of dangerous monsters, she will have to use her wits to survive. She didn't reckon on meeting a mysterious stranger needing help, but fate had other plans. I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this book as I have come to love this series. I started reading this story as soon as I could, and read this in one sitting as I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed meeting all of the previous characters again, although the majority of them only have cameos for the most part. But, Max (who is all grown up and yummy now) has a slightly larger role. However, I think my favourite character in this tale (outside of Max) has to be Zagreus. In a way I felt sorry for him as his father, as a punishment for his actions in Twisted, sent him to live with the three fates, Lachesis, Atropos and Clotho. I giggled at his internal monologues about the Fates' and their meddling. In a way, I think this was good for not only him, but the Fates too. I would love to read his story soon. There are several twists and turns that kept me hooked. Secrets are revealed and danger abounds as Zeus is determined to have possession of the Orb of Kronos. I love the chemistry between Elysia and Damon, which is hot enough to scorch the page. Damon's real identity wasn't really a shock to me, but it may surprise other readers. As I have previously said in my other reviews about this series, I love the world building. It has a wonderful mixture of fantasy combined with myth and reality. The characters' are extremely lifelike and they feel like my friends. The story arc is moving along nicely, though I think that once it reaches its climax I will be very sad when it ends. Although the story doesn't end on a cliffhanger like some of the previous books, I can't wait to read next book in the series as soon as possible. Elisabeth Naughton has written an exciting paranormal romance series. I love her fast paced writing style and the flow is wonderful. She has definitely found a fan in me! Due to scenes of a sexual nature that are on the explicit side, I do not recommend this book for younger readers. However, I highly recommend this book if you love erotic paranormal romances with sexy heroes and strong female characters. Although this book can be read as a stand-alone, I do recommend you read the other books in the series first before reading this one. - Lynn Worton

Amazing There is no good way to review this book without giving the plot away and all I can say is that this is a extremely complex book with lots of twists and turns. There where times I did go out to Google to research some of the mythology mentioned in the book to round out the reading for my self-need but it is not necessary for the reader to do that in order to enjoy this book. The author creates a very interesting world involving mythology and a large variety of complex characters drawing the reader deep into her fantasy world. Readers will be curious with the plaything, Damon and his story while wondering who he really is. As the story unwinds who he is becomes clearer and you will have that "AH HA" moment and feel at peace with him and his story. Meanwhile Elysia, another aspect of this story, continues to draw your attention in another direction worth investigating. Elysia is a great example of how a woman would handle life threatening situations when there is no choice but to live. Her believable character will draw the reader closer with the desire to see her succeed and get her hearts desires. Secondary characters are numerous and the reader will be able to tell that their stories were written in previous books to this series but this will not be a problem to reading this book. I plan to read the four books I have on my Nook. Are you you planning to add Awakened to your "To Be Read List"? ~ Sportochick's Musings An ARC copy was gifted in exchange for an honest opinion via Netgalley.

Elysia is a princess on Argolia, a land ruled by the descendants of the original Argonauts. When she finds out that her parents have arranged her marriage to a councilman's son rather than a mate of her choosing, she's furious and takes off. When she goes to the portal guarded by witches, she finds they've been attacked and she's captured by the Sirens to become their newest recruit. While on a dangerous island to complete the first set of tasks, she meets Damon, toy of the Gods for the past 25 years. He doesn't remember anything before that time, but there's something explosive between the two of them that just can't be coincidence. When I started reading this book, there were two things that had me iffy about wanting to read it. 1-Having grown up on Greek Mythology, I HATE it when authors take too many liberties. 2-The obviousness of what the hero's been doing for the past 25 years right from the start. Having faith in this author, I accepted that she'd be able to weave a story that I would love, so I held off my hesitations and delved in. I'm really glad I held my faith. This was a great story from start (after we bypass the introduction to Damon) to finish. I had a hard time putting it down even for the necessities like sleep. I loved Elysia's character. Her strength, love, and belief in those she loves. Even when Damon, being a typical guy, is a bit shaken, her love and trust don't waver. I highly recommend and can't wait to read the rest of the stories in this series. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review

Elisabeth Naughton’s Awakened has become my favorite book in the Eternal Guardians Series. Damon has belonged to the goddess Aphrodite for twenty-five years. He remembers nothing from his life beforehand. He is loaned to the goddess of war, Athena, to help train the incoming sirens. He finds himself drawn to new recruit, Elysia. He will do anything for her. He discovers that their meeting was not an accident, there are other forces at play. Awakened takes place in Olympus and Argolea. This mythological fantasy is suitable for adult audiences. Elisabeth Naughton does an amazing job with her character development. I love that characters from the earlier books still play a vital role throughout the story. Damon is a terrific character with lots of layers. I love Elysia. She is brave and determined. I like that she doesn’t let her parents push her around. I like that she doesn’t give up. I think it is great how loyal Talisa and Maximus are to her, especially Maximus. Zeus and Athena make excellent opponents; they are crafty and powerful. The plot was exceptional, full of action and mystery. I loved this story. Elisabeth Naughton does a great job of protecting the integrity of the mythological characters while creating a new tale. I appreciate how things that happened in previous books played such an important role in this novel. Awakened is a difficult book to put down full of nonstop excitement. Followers of the Eternal Guardians will not want to miss this book. If you haven’t read the Eternal Guardian Series yet, I recommend following them in order. I think you would be able to comprehend it as a standalone, but you wouldn’t get near the same amount of investment to the characters knowing their background stories. Hold on tight, this book is going to take you on a sexy, thrilling and surprising ride. I absolutely LOVE this series, it is one of my go to, must read as soon as I can get my hands on the newest book type series. If haven't read this series yet, you really must start at the very beginning since each book builds on the last one. This book is set 25 years into the future from the last installment in the series and I have to admit I was a little apprehensive when I first discovered that. I was so worried that there would be such a large hole in the characters lives that we would have missed in those 25 years but the author does a great job with the details of the story that I honestly forget about it. This book had me hooked immediately. Elysia, Demetrius and Isadora’s daughter, is now 25 years old and has just learned that her parents are planning on binding her to a male in hopes of easing the strain on the two governments. Elysia, determined to change her destiny runs away from home only to be captured by Zeus’s Sirens and taken to Pandora as a new Siren recruit. Damon has spent the last 25 years as a love slave to Aphrodite. He has no memory of his life or family before his time on Olympus. When Damon is given to Artemis to help train her new Siren recruits he meets Elysia and is immediately drawn to her. He soon finds himself breaking all kinds of rules to help make sure Elysia makes it through the first rounds of Siren training so that they will not be separated. Secrets will be exposed and the author has one hell of a surprise in store for her readers that will have you jumping for joy! I absolutely loved this installment of the series and can’t wait for more. I received an eARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. All ratings and opinions stated are my own.

4.25 stars---AWAKENED is the eighth full length installment in Elisabeth Naughton’s adult ETERNAL GUARDIANS romantic fantasy series based in Greek mythology, prophecy and history. The modern day heroes –the Argonauts-are descended from the Gods of Olympus whom fate has decreed the Eternal Guardians on Earth. This is Damon and Elysia’s story line. AWAKENED can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order as there is a continuing theme running throughout. AWAKENED fast forwards the series twenty five years and begins to follow the next generation of Argonauts and warriors. Told from several third person perspectives AWAKENED focuses on Damon-an imprisoned male who for twenty five years has been the sex slave to Aphrodite, without memory of his previous life, and a man trained in the art of seduction. When Athena sets out to train a new group of Siren recruits, Damon finds himself face to face with Elysia-the Argolea princess- and the woman who would call to his soul. What ensues is the forbidden relationship between Siren and Trainer, and Elysia’s need to save Damon from the only life he knows. AWAKENED has a deep connection to the previous novella-RAVAGED- in that our hero must come to terms with who he is, and from where he comes. Damon is a man without a past, and his future has been decided by the gods. While Elysia struggles as a Siren recruit, Damon begins to fall deeper for the chosen princess. Betrayal, heartbreak, obsession and revenge are the focus for two lost souls-without memories to guide them Elysia and Damon battle their desires while trying to stay one step ahead of the gods. It is Damon’s warrior like persona that gives our heroine pause as to the true identity of the man with whom she is falling in love. AWAKENED is detailed story of destiny, steeped in Greek mythology, prophecy and lore blended into a modern day tale of gods seeking power and revenge against those they consider less than worthy. While Zeus continues to seek the Orb of Kronos, Athena continues to build her army of Sirens. The premise is intriguing, intricate and enchanting; the characters are passionate, startling and intense; the romance is fated and seductive. Another fantastic addition to Elisabeth Naughton’s ETERNAL GUARDIANS fantasy series.

I'm not the biggest fan of paranormal romance around, but I must say, I really enjoyed Awakened! This is Book 8 in the Eternal Guardians series by Elisabeth Naughton, but the first one that I have read. She describes everything in enough detail that you don't feel like you're coming in so far into a series. It can easily stand alone. Filled with lots of lust, intrigue and action! Damon has no memories of his past prior to coming to be a play thing for the gods where he currently resides. He's sure that there must be something more out there for him, but has no clue what it is. When he stumbles across the newest Siren trainee, Elysia, he realizes she's different. None of them have ever been able to remember their past before, and he feels an instant connection to her. They overcome many obstacles to be around one another and eventually discover a secret past that has been hidden for many years and set out to right the wrongs that have been done to the universe.

There is a bit of time between the publishing of the books in these series but that does not diminish their impact with me in the least. I discovered the first book – Marked – as a freebie for my Nook a few years ago and I was immediately hooked. There are so many aspects of these that intrigued me from the start and they have only gotten better as the series continues. I won’t go into a retelling of the plot because reviews like that seriously bug me but I will say that anyone who has been a fan of these books will not be disappointed in this. Everything I have come to know and love about these stories – the Argonauts, Argolea, the gods, the Sirens, the Fates, the love stories – it’s all here. My beloved Argonauts are all present & accounted for and I loved catching up with each of them to see how their lives have improved since finding their soul-mates. Elisabeth Naughton’s writing and plot is spot on with this one. Just when I think they can’t get any better, they do and I love that EN is able to keep the plots fresh and moving forward. There is not one dull moment in any of them and they don’t feel like a re-telling of another story. I would seriously love to see her cache of mythology info though. There are so many details and tidbits to appease the mythology loving geek in me. **I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
