Awesome Game Creation: No Programming Required, Second Edition teaches aspiring game developers how to create their own computer games without programming skills, and provides an in-depth understanding of how the game design process works. The book uses development tools like The Games Factory, The PIE 3D Game Creation System, gmax, 3D GameMaker, Milkshape 3D, GameMaker, and other cutting-edge software. Editorial Reviews

The Barnes & Noble Review
Computer game creation is an art that requires knowledge of everything from visuals to gameplay, and an understanding of how all these elements interact. You are, after all, building a world. Unfortunately, many of the folks who’d most appreciate the challenge and personal rewards of game building are deterred by one simple word: programming.

That’s where Awesome Game Creation: No Programming Required, Second Edition comes in. Luke Ahearn and Clayton Crooks introduce a set of remarkable tools for building games without writing your own code -- tools like GameMaker and 3D GameMaker; The Games Factory; and the PIE 3D Game Creation System. (All this software, much of it unrestricted, is on the accompanying CD-ROM.)

They also cover the entire game development process, from game treatments and design documents through artwork, animation, audio, and assembling finished games -- everything ranging from 2D action games to 3D shooters.

This edition contains a batch of new game case studies, including driving games, a cartoon game, and detailed coverage of gmax, a free tool for creating all sorts of add-ons for existing games (notably Microsoft’s Flight Simulator 2002). All without coding. Miraculous. Bill Camarda

Awesome Game Creation is a book that really lives up to it's name. This book shows step by step how to create games and the software has unique programs like The 3D Gamemaker and Milkshape 3D. It works alongside the programs with ease, and is very easy to understand (due to the fact that am 12 years old with Regular math skills). Another thing I liked was that in certain parts you had to really think outside the box to solve problems. If there's one problem with Awesome Game Creation, it's that the software contains a lot of demo programs, So You'll have to shell out more money to buy full versions of the products. Overall, If you want to learn how to make games, this is a great starter. 5 stars.

This book should not have been allowed to be published. It should be entered in the annual 'Worse Computer Manual' contest. Some of the written procedures when followed to the letter, do not work on the software. When you go to the software developer's website for answers on how to get things running, you are essentially on your own. Unfortunately I cannot return the book as I had to break the CD seal in order to find out that the software does does work as intended. I wasted my money , don't waste yours on this garbage. I would give it a Zero Star rating with no hesitation.

This book explains how to make games with a program called 'The Game Factory'. This program is very buggy, while easy to use, it is not very powerful. The games I wrote, ran very slowly. Visual game design has a long way to go. This book is not woth the price, as there is relativley little useful information.
