Found it a very interesting read

I bought this so I could find out more about my Grandad's World War Two experience. This was one of the planes he was in during the war. It was definately an eye opener as I had no idea what his job consisted of until I read it. Full of interesting photos and facts. I would say anyone interested in knowing more about these planes and the great men who flew them couldn't do much better than this book here. I'm really glad I bought it.

A must have for World War II bomber aircraft enthusiasts, particularly those who love the B-24 Liberator. Anyone interested in what life was like for airmen during the war would also find this book interesting and informative.

This book provides an excellent account of what life was like for B-24 aircrew members operating in the European theatre during World War II. Using a mixture of World War II and modern day photos as well as first-hand accounts of the job responsibilities and combat experiences for each member of the crew, the reader gets a real sense of the challenges, terror and tragedies of war. While the photos provide clarity and perspective, what makes this book special are the highly descriptive memories of specific missions flown by aircrew members, many of whom were so young. When reading their stories about about flying into such adverse conditions, one wonders how anyone, let alone a 19 year old, could muster the courage to do so day after day. To these brave airmen we all owe a debt of gratitude. This book provides one with a measure of just how much.

A look back on the WWII flyboys.

This was a gift for an 84 y/o man who was a rear gunner on a B24 in WWII.
He loved the book. His only criticism was that his group, based in Italy, was not in the book.

    Very few rear gunners survived.
