Gyo Fujikawa is one of the truly great preschool book artists. Her soft style of painting is pleasing and always interestingùyou can visit the illustrations again and again without getting bored. As in all her books, FujikawaÆs baby landscapes portray many different ethnic groups.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Just looking at this large format board book, I was sure that it was a reprint. The pictures of kids and animals remind me of those that I saw in books many years ago—girls with dresses, lots of tow-headed kids, and very little ethnic variety. The book helps young ones learn the names of baby animals and the ones depicted make you want to reach out and pet them all. Sweet puppies, soft kittens, fluffy chick and ducklings, wooly lambs and hungry birds, pink plump piglets and more. Gyo does a good job presenting a variety of animals, their names, and the sounds that they make. A sweet bit of nostalgia. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot

Wonderful First Book for Infants and Young Children

This is a wonderful first book for infants and young children. Each story idea lasts for two pages, so short attention spans aren't a problem. The pictures of both babies aqnd baby animals are delightful and the wording is pleasing to the ears. I've read this book to two generations and am looking forward to reading it to a third. It makes a great start to a new baby's library.

    Thrilled to find this title!

This title was the absolutely favorite of my first child, who is 42 now! His sisters loved it too. I was so happy to find it for my grandchildren! I love Gyo Fujikawa's illustrations in any book but this one is the most important to our family!

    Delightful!

It's a wonderful book, and the illustrations make me want to smile! My daughter loves the book as much as I do.
