Who made this husband and wife experts in this field?!? My wife's experience with this book was very poor. These reviews, and much better ones, can be found elsewhere on the web for FREE!

Don't buy, the publishers think they are rock stars. Their reviews are no different than your friends reviews. I know the industry well, I've met the publishers, I know their game. Its not in their best interest to disparage the large players in the industry. Stick with a professional publishing group, like consumer reports.

A coworker of mine told me about this book and how great it was for giving guidance on how to buy specific baby items and rates the products on the market. As I was checking out at B&N, the cashier said "My best friend just loves this book! It's like her baby gear bible!" She wasn't lying! This book not only rates products like strollers, high chairs and pack & plays, but it also helps you choose mattresses, pumps, toys and play mats etc. What I liked about it is that it didn't just say "this one is good, this one is bad..." It actually went into great detail about each product and explained what the differences were. It helped me make decisions based on their research. This book really saved my husband and I a lot of time - instead of shopping around and talking to a few associates at baby stores, we referred to our Baby Bargains book and took it from there. When debating what's important to you in a stroller (or whatever you're researching,) I would still recommend you check other review websites - like amazon.com or something, so you can read other parents reviews. The few times I did that, the reviews on amazon had the same concerns as the book had. I just followed the advice of the book and chose what worked best for my family and lifestyle. You'll have a fantastic background knowledge about the product by reading the Baby Bargain's review - it helped me open my eyes to things I never would have thought would have been a problem. I would recommend this book to any new parent, or parents that are expecting their second, third, fourth child. A lot of helpful, practical, and useful information in here.

My husband and I completely relied on Baby Bargains when I was pregnant with our first child. It reviews almost all baby products from carseats to shopping cart covers. The reviews are based on safety, reliability, cost, as well as parent recommendations. Each section reviews and compares major brands and gives each a rating. What I especially like is that the writers give their top picks at the end of each section in "good," "better," and "best" categories. The book aims to help you save money, but it also discusses areas in which you should not scrimp (usually for safety reasons or because it will cost you more in the long run). Now that our daughter is nine months, we are using the updated version to make decisions about a new carseat and an umbrella stroller. This book has been a lifesaver, and it is a must-have for new parents!

It was essential for me to navigate my way through the overwhelming amount of baby gear! I found I generally agreed with the author's recommendations and loved the insight into why they recommended certain items over others. A must-have.

The only complaint I have seen onthis book bought through nook store is that it did not include charts. Ijustpurchased it and am partway through it, but so far mine has had all thecharts it is supposed to. Love this book! Veryinformative

There are no pictures or charts in ebook version.  This really upset me.  This problem, unlike what a previous reviewer stated, is not a B&N problem, it is a problem with the actual book publisher, the Kindle version also does not have pics or charts.   I would recommend this book, but i highly suggest you get the paper copy. The ebook copy is really bad and at the time i bought it NO ONE on either site had reviewed the ebook version, so I had no warning- you do- so buyer beware!

BUYER BEWARE! I would give this zero stars if I could.  The Nookbook does NOT contain any charts, graphs, or pictures even though Barnes & Noble website indicates "DETAILED CHARTS that compare brands of cribs, strollers, car seats and more!" This is FALSE advertising!  Don't be fooled, the Nookbook only has text.  BN refuses to give me a refund for this and claimed that “Because this file is provided by the publisher, pictures and other graphic content will be decided by that person.”  I will NEVER buy a Nookbook again because the content description provided by Barnes & Noble can not be trusted.

I will preface this with I did not own this version, but I did own the 7th edition when my daughter was born.  It had the best information about what to look for in buying anything baby and ratings based on different guidelines.  Honestly, I bought so many things by recommendations in the 7th edition (and double checking the researched) and we LOVED everything we bought.  And to-date, absolutely NO recalls or returns on any of them.  That says a lot.  Highly recommend books from this series.

There are so many things a person needs to prepare for their babies arrival. Baby Bargains takes some of the guessing out of what is truly necessary and which products are the best deal. It is a large book with some information that was unnecessary for me, but overall I felt it quite helpful in choosing items for the baby. Recommend!

This book has been so helpful for us navigating through the crazy world of baby stuff! This is our first child and it's all been overwhelming trying to figure out what's a good brand for safety, cost, and reliability. This book answers those questions and more. I'm not sure what we would have made such informed or smart choices without this book!

Good overall tips on what to look for when buying products, things to keep in mind as your baby grows (i.e. you're shopping for a 9 month old who will be crawling all over & pulling on things, not just a newborn who sleeps all day) and super helpful in wading through what's a waste of time and not. Brand by brand reviews haven't been as helpful b/c not all stores available to me carry the ones they describe to be able to comparison shop between them - but overall, would recommend this to anyone who's facing shopping for their first baby. A friend recommended it to me, and I'm glad she did!
