My little guy will eat anything, but I never know exactly what I should
or shouldn’t be feeding him. Just because he will eat it, does it mean
he should? I’m always wondering how I can pack the best nutritional
punch into each meal and snack. The book “Baby Bites” has helped me
answer many of these questions. I recently had the opportunity to
review Baby Bites by Bridget Swinney, MS, RD. I would recommend this
book to any parent of a newborn or toddler. If you struggle trying to
figure out what to feed your child, this book is definitely for you. It
has 160 great recipes and hundreds of practical feeding and safety tips
for parents. It covers a wide range of topics from breast feeding and
formula feeding, starting solids, storing foods and even the importance
of eating together at the table as a family. I love how the author is
non-judgemental. Her advice is straight forward and simple. The book
takes you step by step through feeding your child as he (or she) ages.
Starting with nursing/formula feeding and progressing onto to regular
table foods. The recipes are simple and easy to follow. My son loves the
French Toast with Blueberry Syrup found in the book. The recipes use
basic pantry staples that even I had in my cupboard. Most recently my
daughter has acquired a taste for avocados so we made the Avocado and
Chicken recipe found in the book. My daughter wouldn’t eat it, but my
son was game to try! I tried it myself and it was pretty good. The
recipes aren’t fussy which is great since my husband didn’t follow the
recipe exactly, he eye-balled the measurements based on the amount of
ingredients we had on hand. The book offers many new and old tips on
how to feed your little one. It’s divided into easy to read sections and
has helped me understand my baby’s eating habits and nutritional needs
and has helped me find ways to encourage healthy eating habits. Baby
Bites is well worth the small investment. Even if you are buying it late
in the game it still has lots of great ideas for everyone! Disclosure:
I received the products mentioned above for this review. No monetary
compensation was received by me. This is my completely honest opinion
above and may differ from yours.
