Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"These two concept books [Baby Buggy, Buggy Baby and Night, Knight] have bright appealing illustrations, sturdy architecture, and a number of possible uses." The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books
School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 2Two books present semantics and homonyms. Baby Buggy utilizes flaps to illustrate the changing picture resulting from a phrase in which word order is rearranged, e.g., "shoe in a hole" to "hole in a shoe." Night, Knight presents homonyms, such as "pears" and "pairs." Both titles miss the mark because the word pairs are too difficult ("rain" and "reign") for the lift-the-flap book audience. These books, cataloged under English language, may find an audience among teachers in need of simply illustrated explanations of language concepts, but the pictures will have limited appeal to readers ready for such comparisons as "water in the sink" and "sink in the water."Susan M. Moore, Louisville Free Public Library, KY
