Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Following on the heels of last season's Baby Talk and Baby Animals, author Harriet Ziefert and illustrator SAMi add three more titles to the series in the "flip-a" format. The Baby Flip-a-Face book Woof-Woof uses thick spongy pages and a b&w palette to transform the puppy face of the cover to the "ha-ha" smiley face of a human baby. A pair of Flip-a-Shape books explores foods-Yum! (in which a triangle can be a carrot or an ice cream cone)-and modes of transport in Go! Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
There are very few words to accompany the faces that fill the pages of this board book. The faces are simple ovals with little curlicues for hair and dots for the eyes and nose that have a little more character. As the die cut pages are flipped, the text indicates the sound that the animal would make, such as squeak-squeak for a mouse and tweet-tweet for a bird. Kids will meet a baby, dog, mouse, lamb, pig, bird, goat, cat, duck, and bear in the board books with foam filled pages. It is a very easy way to introduce animal sounds. Some of the images are repeated on the back cover. Part of the "flip-a-Face" series.

My little fellow who is now 4 months old loves this book! It was the first one that I read to him that he would look at. I think he was attracted to the black and white pictures. There aren't many words but this is fine because it allows me to talk to him about the animals and the sounds they make. Great for the newborns!
