From the Publisher

Praise for Counting Kisses:

"A book as irresistible as a baby's smile....Every picture exudes all the warmth of a lovingly stitched crazy quilt ." Publisher's Weekly
Children's Literature - Eleanor Heldrich
This attractive, and strangely thickened, book for the very young calls itself a Lift-the-Flap, Hear-the-Sound Book. The words on the left-hand page of each double-page spread ask, what's making that noise? Then, when a large flap is lifted on the right-hand page, the words themselves ring out. For instance, on the left side of the first spread the text says, "What's behind the tree going vroom, vroom, vroom?" And when a large flap in the shape of a tree is lifted on the right side, there is a picture of a car and the book says "vroom, vroom, vroom!" The words printed under the flap say, "Now you do it" meaning the listener should now make the same sound. The sounds for baby to recognize are cheep, cheep, cheep; choo, choo, choo; vroom, vroom, vroom; ribbet, ribbet, ribbet; and giggle, giggle, giggle. On the back cover we learn that the sounds are light activated and, indeed under each flap there is a tiny hole to let in the necessary speck of light! Now we know the electronics necessary for the speck of light to initiate a sound are inside that extra thick last page! The baby will no doubt accept this with less interest than the reader.
