Children's Literature
The story of Christ's birth is told in this "touch and Feel Bible Stories" board book. The text uses Biblical references and it begins with an angel telling Mary that God has picked her to be the mother of a special baby to be named Jesus. The ox in the picture has a hairy spot for young readers to touch. A pregnant Mary and her spouse Joseph then head to Bethlehem and as the story goes, they end up in a stable because the inns were full. Baby Jesus was born there and angels announced his birth to nearby shepherds. As with the opening page, there is something to touch on each spread—a furry donkey, the rough wall, an angel's gown, and hay in the manger. A book that will find a home in church libraries or collections for young Christian children. 2003, Reader's Digest Children's Books, Ages 2 to 5.— Marilyn Courtot
