Meet the Author

Monta Briant first discovered baby sign language when she was expecting her first child. She began signing with her daughter, Sirena, when she was 6 months old, and was so impressed with the results that she felt compelled to share what her family had learned with other parents and caregivers of young children.

Monta offers classes, workshops, and storytimes throughout San Diego County. Her Baby Sign Language Basics series of products includes everything parents need for signing success, including several books, an instructional DVD, flash cards, and the Songs for Little Hands Music CD and Activity Guide.

I teach early childhood special education and we use a lot of basic sign language to enhance communication. I found this at the bookstore and I think it will be useful when I need to look up a sign quickly. The second half of the book has a variety of signs (each on its own page) listed alphabetically. I like the extensive vocabulary that's included in this book... frequently used nouns, verbs, etc. It seems to have more than other Baby Signs programs I've come across. It even taught my husband a few signs!

I Have Only Had This Book For 2 Weeks & My Daughter Who Is 13 Months Already Knows About 10 Signs! I Have No Experience With Signing & This Is The Perfect Book For Novice Signers. I Love How The Author Shows The Signs Instead Of It Being A Drawn Picture As Well. I Cant Wait To Get Some More Of Her Books & DVDs! I Was Very Skeptical That Signing With My Baby Would Help Her Or If She Would Even Understand It! But As I Saw Her Understanding It I Knew It Would Change Our Lives Forever! I Have Noticed That She Is Throwing Fit Less & Less Everyday Also She Is Talking Alot More (Still Baby Talk ) But I'm Able To Make Out More Words As The Days Go On
