Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Emily Griffin
What is everyone doing before dinner? A whole host of activities! Starting with Grandma holding Baby out to Mama as she comes home with groceries. Each page shows a different family member, a short (three word) descriptive sentence explains what they want. Cat wants Fish, Pup wants shoes, Brother wants crayons, Sister wants phone, Grandma wants news, Mama wants kisses, Daddy wants quiet, Cat wants treat, and Baby wants jingles (keys). At some point, everyone wants supper. A picture book for young listeners, showing a family hanging out in their house before they gather around the table on the last page to eat a supper of soup, salad, and bread together. "Hurray! It's time to eat." Large, colorful, and somewhat minimal illustrations, done in watercolor and color pencil, animate this family's life. Read aloud with your family to see if you recognize any familiar behaviors! Reviewer: Emily Griffin
