All Music Guide - James Leonard
When it comes to Bach's "Cantatas," you can depend on Masaaki Suzuki. In the previous 24 volumes of his recordings of Bach's "Cantatas," Suzuki led the singers and instrumentalists of his Bach Collegium Japan in warmhearted and fully satisfying performances and Suzuki does it again in his 25th volume. As fully human as Suzuki and the Collegium's Bach is, it lacks the immanence of the numinous. And while one is deeply moved by these performances, one is not profoundly awed by them. BIS' sound embodies the imminence of the luminous.
