Overview

The so-bad-they’re-good alphas of hockey’s Chicago Aces are back in this emotionally charged novel of sex, love, and second chances from the bestselling author of Top Shelf and the Heller Brothers series.

Tanner Bennet hates weddings. They just remind him that he simply isn’t cut out for any kind of healthy, committed relationship—never has been, never will be. After getting rejected by the girl he thought was “the one” all those years ago, he made a huge mistake and married the wrong person. Now that the divorced heartbreaker has reluctantly agreed to be a groomsman for one of his NHL teammates, the last thing he expects is a chance at redemption with the one that got away.

After Marc Dupuis of the Chicago Aces hires wedding planner Katelyn Medford, she discovers that her big break comes with a twist: a reunion with her college sweetheart. The way she dumped Tanner still haunts her. Eight years—and three broken engagements—later, Katelyn knows she’ll never have that kind of innocent, wide-eyed passion again. Still, she and Tanner soon generate enough body heat to burn up the sheets. And even with Tanner’s career with the Aces up in the air, Katelyn’s wondering whether the time is right to let him in for real.

One of my favourite genres is second chance love stories, throw in a seriously hot hockey player and I am there; that is what Back Check is all about. This is book 4 in the Aces hockey series and can be read as a standalone. Over the last few years I have been reading more and more stories about hockey and thoroughly enjoy them. Kelly Jamieson has done a great job with this series. When his fellow team mate asks him to be a groomsman in his wedding Tanner Bennet has no idea that the wedding planner will be Katelyn Medford, the woman who dumped him 8 years ago. Katelyn has always regretted how she broke up with Tanner, could this be the opportunity both need to seek closure? Either Tanner or Katelyn have found happiness in their subsequent relationships and although tensions are high could this be the start of a second chance at love for these two? Knowing that they have no choice but to work together to make the wedding a success, will Tanner and Katelyn be able to move on from the past? Can they be friends? The banter between them, once they got over the shock of seeing each other again, was at times laugh at loud funny. Not to mention there were certainly some hot scenes as it was obvious that what Tanner and Katelyn had felt in the past is still present; their attraction to each other sizzling. I look forward to reading more in this series.

4.5 Stars Book 4 in the Aces Hockey Books and I have to say this is one of my favourite series after all what's not to love, hot hockey players and loveable heroines. Tanner plays for the Aces and when he is told "like it or not you will be part of my wedding party" for teammate Marc Dupuis, the last person he expected to bump into was his college sweetheart Katelyn. Katelyn is now a wedding planner in Chicago and Tanner can't believe they have ended up in the same city let alone being at the same wedding ,after all she broke his heart when she dumped him and let him walk away when he we offered a hockey contract years ago. What he doesn't know is why she dumped him and how she broke her own heart in the process. Neither Tanner or Katelyn have found their soulmates and both are sworn off relationships but that was before they were thrown together at Marc and Lovely's wedding. Can they be just friends or will their feelings take over and let them start where they left off eight years ago ...... The chemistry is sizzling and the banter is funny and there were some real laugh out loud snorting moments in this book. I do believe each of these books can be read as standalones because each one is about a different player. Kelly Jamieson has once again given us a perfect read. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book that was supplied by NetGalley

Back Check is the latest hockey romance by Kelly Jamieson and as always, she’s spot on in describing hockey and the politics of team management in a thoughtful and entertaining way, while providing a sexy romance too. Tanner and his college sweetheart Katelyn split when their futures were obviously heading in different directions – he had a brand new NHL contract, and she was unable to leave for reasons she didn’t share but resulted in hurt on both sides with no one to blame. When her job as a wedding planner brings Katelyn back into Tanner’s circle 8 years later, the first step to fixing what’s broken between them is opening up the lines of communication. I love a good second chance romance, especially when the circumstances surrounding the couple’s breakup are not due to a silly misunderstanding. There’s no doubt that they are still attracted to each other and they share some steamy love scenes as they reconnect. The stress of Tanner’s impending contract renewal (or not) is part and parcel of the decisions they make and the happy ending they get this time around is worth the effort. Lots of scenes with Tanner’s teammates and their partners add that spirit of camaraderie that make Ms. Jamieson’s books so enjoyable. Accurate on ice scenes, locker room talk, contract negotiations and a sexy romance – best of all worlds. Definitely worth the read.

I found Back Check to be the best book so far in this series. I liked Tanner and Katelyn and wanted them to be together; Jamieson did a good job showing the reader what drove the couple apart years ago, and why they would want to try to connect again now. Tanner lacked maturity and emotional depth in the begining but it soon became apparent that he didn't lack the skill to have a mature relationship, he just lacked the desire to allow anyone the power to hurt him again. I liked Katelyn immediately. (Even though I'm seriously tired of books about event planners, not sure why this has become such a hugely popular job in the last few years in HEAs.) Katelyn was independent and confident and quite honestly didn't need Tanner to save her or prop her up in life. She would have been fine without him. However, she never would have had as happy a life as she did with him in her life. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys well written romance. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I feel as though I should be punished for not knowing this author and I’m thankful that is no longer the case. Hockey? Check. Funny AF? Check. Sexy? Check. Romantic? Check. Tension? Check. Lovable characters? Check. If there was anything missing I sure didn’t miss it. Oh my word…if you don’t know what “cheap hotel pants” are …. You should read this book. If you are looking for a romantic sports story that is true to the sport yet super sexy…. You should read this book. If you know or want to hear about a Gordie Howe hat trick…. You should read this book. If you are a sucker for second chance love stories ….. You should read this book. If you are interested to know a shorter way to say “for an occasion”….. You should read this book. If you trust my judgment, and you should, You should read this book. Thank you Loveswept via Netgalley for the advance copy of this funny, sexy, emotional story about love in the NHL!

This was a fun and sexy second chance romance, I loved it! I have enjoyed this series, but this is my favorite so far. The backstory of Tanner and Katelyn is heartbreaking. They were so in love in college, but life brought changes that couldn’t be altered. They both had commitments and there were misunderstandings that led to their heartbreak. Tanner and Katelyn have amazing chemistry and the pace of their love story is believable. There is a lot going on in their lives professionally and personally that is simmering in the background, but their feelings for each other can’t be denied. My heart broke for them when they finally talked about their breakup and the misunderstandings on both sides. I am not going to give any more about the story, as I want you to enjoy this sweet and spicy second chance sports romance.

Kelly Jamieson is on a winning streak with BACK CHECK, the fourth book in the Aces Hockey series. Tanner Bennet feels like he is cursed when it comes to wedding. When his team captain asks him to stand up in his wedding, he could hardly say no. He never expected to be reunited with the woman who broke his heart, the wedding planner, Katelyn Medford. This contemporary sports romance takes place in Chicago. I loved this story. First of all, I appreciated that it took place during Marc Dupuis’ and Lovey Armstrong‘s (from book one, MAJOR MISCONDUCT) wedding planning. I love the previous characters in the series, and that was a great way to include them into the story. It was also, a clever way for Tanner and Katelyn to be reunited. I enjoyed Tanner’s character. Being the child of parents who have gone through several divorces he understandably never felt like he had a normal family. His childhood leaves him with some security issues. He doesn’t really feel wanted. Katelyn is the only person he ever confided in. While all of this is going on, Tanner has the added stress of contract negotiations and trade rumors. I love that he is a big brother and how he interacts with Jovon. I love the video he makes for Katelyn, especially since he did it in front of his teammates. Katelyn is a likeable character. She has lived in Chicago the past few years and recently started her own event planning business. Being professional is very important to her. I like that she hits it off so well with Lovey and Amber. She fits in great with their friends. She is a noble person with good values. Tanner and Katelyn dated while in college at Michigan State; Katelyn broke Tanner’s heart when she didn’t follow him when he played with the New York Islanders. We discover her very good reason for sacrificing their relationship. I love that these two got a second chance. They are an astounding couple with fantastic chemistry. Once again, Kelly Jamieson created an amazing story that was heartfelt and realistic. The characters had obstacles to overcome and issues to face. Being a Chicagoan, I love that it takes place here. Kelly Jamieson does a great job depicting the city. I love this series and highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys a good sports romance. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

The next installment in the Aces Series by Kelly Jamieson did not disappoint! Katelyn and Tanner had awesome chemistry and I loved their story. Katelyn and Tanner have a history, college sweethearts that haven’t seen each other in the 10 years since their relationship ended, badly. Tanner, a pro hockey player who HATES weddings and Kaitlyn is wedding planner who avoids all things hockey. So of course, Katelyn is planning one of Tanner’s best friend’s wedding. Tanner and Kaitlyn’s chemistry is obvious from the start, they both try so hard not want each other. Wedding festivities force them together and old feelings come to the surface making staying apart even harder. I loved this second chance novel (one of my favorite story lines). The characters were great and appearance from the rest of the team and their partners was awesome. This is a must read in the Aces Series. *I received an advanced copy of this book for an honest review.

Three stars. Great cover - wow! This was OK, a pleasant read but it didn't grip me. Although, full-disclosure, I have no idea whatsoever about ice hockey. Tanner Bennet comes from a well-to-do but broken family. Both of his parents have married and divorced multiple times. All his friends' marriages have ended in divorce and his marriage to a model lasted less than six months. So when his team-mate and captain Marc Dupuis announces that he is getting married Tanner is less than thrilled. Being an ice-hockey player he is terribly superstitious and worries that he might be some kind of wedding jinx. After their original wedding planner disappears Marc and his fiance Lovey hire Katelyn Medford as their new planner. Little do they know that Tanner and Katelyn were high-school sweethearts until Tanner got called to the NHL and Katelyn wouldn't/ couldn't leave her home town. Cue the awks! I liked the story of this novel but in all honesty I felt it got lost in the rather lacklustre sex scenes (I am over "folds" people, find another word) which seemed to substitute for character or plot development. Also, I felt that (at least in the middle of the novel) the writing became very staccato with short sentences and an over-reliance on descriptions on exactly what Tanner ate for dinner and the colour and style of every set of lingerie that Katelyn wore - I just didn't care if she was wearing an orchid purple demi-cup with v-front thong matching set. Recommended for readers who like light frothy second-chance romances with a heavy dose of smexy. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This was the first book by Ms. Jamieson that I have read and I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the book. Tanner is a hockey player who doesn't believe in love. Not because he doesn't want it in his life, but because he has seen his parents divorce multiple times throughout his life and because the one he did love in college- well, he let her walk away- and he was married once and it failed. He doesn't want to go through that again. But, when he sees Katie again, after a decade, he is befuddled. He is still attracted to her, but resents the fact that she didn't choose him. He feels like she didn't really love him and he is guarded when it comes to her. He tries to be stand-offish, but friendly because she is planning his friend/teammates wedding and he is in the wedding, but every time he is around her he has a hard time focusing on anything but her. Katie also feels like he gave up on them, so she tries to be civil when she sees him for the first time. She tells him that she just wants to be friends and doesn't understand why he treats her the way he does. She accuses him of hating her. He tells her that that is the furthest thing from how he feels- and he kisses her. This leads to them trying to work things out and get back what they once had. Even though, he might be leaving Chicago if he gets traded. They decide to work that out if the time comes. Can they be happy together? Will his job tear them apart again? Will secrets from the past interfere? Pick up this great book and find out. I was given a free ARC, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I received an ARC for honest review with netgalley. It was cook, great romance about second chances. I was glad to see Tanner regretted his actions, about losing Katelyn again, and immediately remedied it. It was funny with the guys all there cheering him on, joking, adding there own commentaries while making video. Was happy for Katelyn, she deserved it. Great HEA, loved wedding scene.

This is a fun, hot, second chance at love hockey story. Katelyn and Tanner loved each other in college. A shot at his dream and her duty to family separate these two. Their lives collide once again, and the heat is still there. I enjoyed the banter between Katelyn and Tanner, making me smile. As they stumbled along, I held my breath, hoping they would see what was in front of them. I have come to care for all the men on the Chicago Aces and cannot wait for the next one. I received a copy of this story through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.

Another Win by Kelly Jamieson!! Tanner is a guy who thinks luck just isn't on his side. He can't keep a relationship going so he just doesn't try. Katelyn is the small town girl who got away. Can these two make a go of it the second time around? Or will history just repeat itself? I love a good romance book. Not necessarily a smutty book (though those can be a fun read sometimes); but a good ROMANCE book. And Kelly Jamieson has delivered that once again! I love her characters. Tanner isn't just a shmoozy hockey goon. Katelyn isn't just a hick girl trying to make it in the big city. They are real people who screw up. They make mistakes. But in the end, the characters develop themselves and grow. You get to see them have those "light bulb moments" that most romance stories gloss over--over never even have. Kelly doesn't do that and I love her for it! A big critique of most romance stories is they are redundant or glossy or more "no way in heck" as opposed to fanciful. Kelly offers none of those things. I've read authors in the past that constantly refer back to their other books and/or other chapters in the same book. You feel like they were trying to meet a word count. But in Back Check (and every other Kelly Jamieson book I've read), you don't have that. She weaves a story as it might actually happen. Sure there are memories and some back story-- a story about a couple with an intertwined past would HAVE to have some back story obviously. The difference is that you aren't dulled by the history; you aren't choking down the same information constantly. Instead you are sucked into a world of HOT hockey players and their lively and lovely girlfriends/fiances/etc. There's heat for sure. Tanner and Katelyn definitely have passion for days. But the passion isn't the make believe kind. It's realistic, in a "I pray to GOD I get to have that kind of sweaty night at least once" and you totally could! This is part of the Aces Hockey series but can easily be read as a stand alone story.

Kelly does it again! This is the fourth book in her Aces Hockey series. And just like the others, I loved Tanner and Katelyn! A great hockey story, a great second chance love story and it was hot, hot, hot!! "Teenage romances never lasted. Everyone knew that. You didn’t marry the first guy you fell in love with. Even if you did dream about that when you were together. No. Young love was . . . young. Immature. You couldn’t love someone forever when you both still had growing up to do. When you both would change. When your lives took you in different directions." Tanner's past has him convinced love doesn't exist. A revolving door of step-families, a gold digging ex-wife and losing the girl he thought was the love of his life at a young age. He's happy to just play hockey and the field. In spite of her past, Katelyn believes true love is out there, and she's determined to find it - again. She thought she found it in college, but she was forced to give him up. After 3 failed engagements, Katelyn's focus has turned from love to building her new business. When fate puts these two in each other's paths once again, it's obvious the sparks still fly between them. But they've burned each other in the past, and neither wants to feel that pain again. "He sure as hell wasn’t looking for love or marriage or long-term. He knew better than anyone that happily ever after didn’t exist. So it was better that they weren’t friends. It was better that they weren’t anything." "Tanner was a piece of her past. He was here in the present but that was okay. She could handle this. She’d be professional and polite." Their connection is strong, and a second chance is exactly what they both want, until history seems to be repeating itself. Katelyn needs to find the strength she didn't have before and convince Tanner that she's in it for forever... "But whatever happened, wherever they ended up, they’d be together, there for each other, for better or for worse, through stupidity and pride, injury or illness, joy and laughter . . . to love and to cherish . . . always." ARC provided by the author for an honest review.

Tanner Bennet is quite certain he is a jinx to marriages, every wedding he has been involved with has ended on unpleasant terms, and now that his best friend and team mate is requesting his presence in his he has his reservations about getting involved. He knows love isn't in the cards for him, and he'd hate to see his bad luck with weddings and love rub off on his friends, but the happy couple isn't letting him off so easy. So, he reluctantly admits defeat, and promises to show up to their party to get himself acquainted with the rest of the wedding party... and gets the surprise of his life! The woman that got away years ago is standing before him, and just so happens to be the happy couples wedding planner. Being this close to her again is going to be painful as hell, but he can't let down his friends so he is just going to have to find a way to deal with it... maybe it's a blessing in disguise, or maybe just maybe he'll have a chance to make amends. When Katelyn Medford gets the call that hockey star Marc Dupuis and his fiance are in need of her wedding planning services she is thrilled, but her excitement also comes with some reservations as she doesn't have good luck with hockey players... well one in particular anyway, one that could possibly be involved with their wedding. She always thought Tanner Bennet was the one she was supposed to share her life with, but then hockey took him away from her, and their future went up in smoke. So seeing him again could be quite painful, and bring back feelings that she buried a long time ago, but she needs this job, so she is just going to have to find a way to deal with him being around... as hard as it maybe! The second I read the synopsis for this one I knew it was one that I had to read, I am a sucker for hockey players and second chance love stories, so seeing that this one had both I knew there was no way I was passing up the opportunity and I am SO happy that I didn't let this one get away... cause it was pretty damn amazing!! Katelyn and Tanner had love once, then life got in the way, and they assumed their time with one another was over, but fate stepped in and put them back in each others worlds and it didn't take long for those long buried feelings to resurface. And along with those feelings came the passion and spark they once shared, which helped to create some very steamy little encounters that had me blushing more than once, and left me a little envious too!! I have to say this story definitely ranks high on my list of favorites, I mean what is not to love about a sexy and very determined hockey player that isn't willing to let love pass him by a second time! Highly recommend this one, Ms. Jamieson's sexy little read is sure to steam up your tablet screen, and leave you in urgent need of a little time on the ice to cool yourself down! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.

Tanner and Katelyn dated in college and broke up when he was drafted by the NY Islanders. Katelyn stayed behind to take care of her dad. Tanner didn't know her dad was ill and thought that she chose her dad over him. Tanner is jaded on relationships and marriage. His parents have had a revolving door with ex-spouses and every time Tanner would get close to his step-siblings they would be gone from his life. Katelyn has moved to Chicago and opened her own party planning business which is how she and Tanner meet again. Katelyn gets hired by Lovey and Marc to plan their wedding. Tanner is stunned to see Katelyn, as she is him. Both have tried to find love in the 8 years they were apart, but it never worked. Sparks fly again and both of them try not to get burned. Tanner did have trust issues and Katelyn did have to show him she was not going to leave him this time. Tanner did finally understand that he had to embrace love and not run from it. He owned his part in their first breakup and it left both of them willing to try again. Tanner's contract negotiations and potential trade left him reeling on a personal level and didn't help his mindset about starting a relationship. Things were not smooth, but they did manage to find a way to figure things out. I did like the ending and enjoyed this ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have been waiting for Tanner's story and let me tell you this one did not disappoint!! This is book 4 in the series and we find Marc and Lovey getting married. Losing her wedding planner she hires Katelyn. This is a big break for Katelyn as an events planner because it will open may doors. She hits it off with Lovey instantly. Tanner, hates weddings, commitment and anything that resembles a relationship mainly due to his upbringing and the multiple wives his father ran through. Tanner learned very early on not to get attached to anyone. The only thing that came close to that was his girlfriend in college, Katelyn. When Tanner was drafted to the NHL, she chose to stay behind in Michigan, hurt and angry her left. They never talked about it and haven't seen each other since that day he left her. That is until he comes to Marc's apartment and sees Katelyn there with Lovey. The wedding planner. Katelyn made it her business to avoid anything hockey related, she knew Tanner had gotten married and that was all. As for her, three failed engagements which she broke, because she didn't love them. Seeing each other again brings up all sorts of feelings for these two; some hurtful, some happy, many understandings and things that were never said. Katelyn tries to negotiate the can we be friends thing, since they have to be civil to each other because of the wedding. She's also concerned about appearing professional with Lovey. Turns out Tanner wants more than friends. Adding to the story is Tanner's contract is up for renewal with the Aces and as the deadline looms closer he's worried about being traded. Traded means leaving Chicago and Katelyn. This weighs heavily on Tanner. When these two navigate their past and start smoking up the sheets, look out! Kelly wrote some steamy schmexy stuff here that will melt your panties right into a puddle. Ice rink or no ice. Melting. These two are the best MC's. They're so well written, their emotions are bared, they're honest and funny. The guys on the team are as usual, the perfect supporting characters and their antics are outrageous. Moreover they give Tanner a little kick in his backside when he needs it most. This is my favorite book of the series by far. They're all great and worth a read. They're solid and the stories are all great. I just have a little crush thing going with Tanner. This book is a great read and can be read as a stand alone, although I'd recommend reading the whole series. Thank you Kelly Jamieson for another amazing story!! **arc from NetGalley and Loveswept in exchange for a fair review**

Ms Jamieson states is her short author bio at the end of the book that she likes to write the types of stories she loves to read...that have "romance with heat, humor and emotion." That is exactly what this story had throughout, in spades! There are quite a few sports centric stories out at any given time, and depending on the season, Hockey is huge. But this story sets itself apart, not only by the terrific writing, and characters with wonderful personalities...but it has "Heart", big time. I can't remember reading any story were the characters truly supported and complimented each other in the way these did. Of course there was hilarity and humor abound...they're professional hockey players after all...known for their pranks, yet the dialog was also smart, crisp and with meaning. No wasted words, no page fillers, just pure entertainment. And definitely the romance had heat...the pages lit up each time Tanner and Kate were together. There was so much emotion swirling between these two that it was quite difficult to not become invested in their HEA. Even though this is the fifth book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone, there is enough backstory provided to fill any gaps and keep the story moving along smoothly. I will be adding this author to my favorites list and am looking forward to reading more of her books. This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

He doesn’t believe in love. She’s determined to find it. A sweet and sexy story about second chances at love and a great add to the Aces Hockey series. Hockey players are superstitious by nature. They leave their beards grow and don’t wash their socks all for the sake of a winning streak and Tanner Bennet thinks he’s bad juju when it comes to wedding too. Every time he’s been in a wedding party the marriage ended in divorce, including his after he decided to marry the wrong woman. So when asked to be part of one of his teammates’ groomsmen he half-heartedly agrees. But after the shock of discovering that the wedding planner is the only woman he’s ever loved who rejected him almost a decade ago has worn off, will he overcome his fears and cease this second chance at love? Katelyn Medford is great at organizing events but it’s taken a bit longer for her company to take off. So when the chance to plan a wedding for an NHL star, she can’t afford to say no and why would she? There’s only the small detail of being unexpectedly reunited with her college boyfriend who she refused to follow when his career required he move out of state eight years ago. But after three failed engagements, she now knows that a relationship like they had isn’t easy to find. Now that they’re in constant close proximity and that their chemistry is undeniable, will she let him in and be able to follow him wherever his career may lead? For those of you who enjoy a story that balances the drama and connection of second chance romances, heated chemistry and the excitement of hockey this is a good book for you. Jamieson provides well developed characters whose back stories made me feel for them. Katelyn was a hard worker, she wanted love but hadn’t found it or more precisely had let it go, so she helped plan fabulous weddings. She did have a good reason for not going with Tanner when they were younger and her biggest fault was that she didn’t tell him. Tanner had big commitment issues because his parents were never there for him due to their endless marriage/divorces and to top it off the only person he ever loved had broken his heart. But he formed his own family with his teammates and went as far as to be part of a big brother association. He’s a great hero all around, a sexy alpha who goes for what he wants and not afraid to express his feelings or do hot yoga. Their reconnection is fun, flirty and hot, and after both having lived, learned and matured they’re somewhat better at communicating except when they don’t, which creates a bit of conflict for them. Nothing too big that they can’t work through. I loved having Lovey and Marc back while preparing their wedding along with the other couples in the Aces team. Back Check is book #4 in the Aces Hockey series by Kelly Jamieson. Even though it has characters from past stories, it’s a steamy and sweet full length standalone hockey romance. Told from both points of view with a happy ending.

Fantastic! Another great Sport Romance! Can’t seem to get enough of this type of romance lately. This story was filled with heat, humor and emotion and I couldn’t get enough. I truly felt the connection these two shared. I was rooting for them from the first glance when they see each other again after eight long years apart. Kelly Jamieson sure knows how to bring it. Seeing Katelyn again made him remember how he had loved her with his whole heart back in college and then having her decide not to come with him when he was drafted. Tanner had turned into the playboy with the devil may care attitude. He didn’t believe in love anymore, with his first wedding ending in divorce as well as having parents who constantly divorced and every wedding he had been in ending the same way. It was better to leave love in the past. “Life without love is kind of empty?” Katelynn Medford had started her own event planning business a year ago in Chicago. When she had been contacted by her newest client Lovey Armstrong she never expected to see her first love standing in her clients’ living room. But she needed this job. And as they are thrown together again and again will they find love again? I enjoyed Tanner and Katelyn’s growing connection and chemistry. I loved learning their history and watching them come together. But as rumor of a trade surfaces, will he leave her again with nothing but heartache? You will have to read to find out! I voluntarily agreed to read an ARC and post a honest review through NetGalley.

I didn't think it was possible but this series just keeps getting better! Tanner Bennett does not believe in love, in fact, he is thinks weddings are probably the worst things on earth and yet he is going to be a groomsman at Marc Dupuis' wedding to Lovey Armstrong. Could it get any worse? Well...the new wedding planner is Katelyn Medford, the woman is left left in college when he was drafted and broke both of their hearts. This is a second chance love story that took my breath away with how well this was written. Can they make a go of it this time? Who will be the next to fall? Even though this is #4 in the series, it can be read as a standalone but WHY oh WHY would you want to because each and every one is about a hunky hockey player and they are all GREAT! **Received an ARC for review from the publisher via NetGalley**

4.5 Stars! Back Check by Kelly Jamieson, is a hot, well-written sports romance. The two main characters, wedding planner Katelyn Medford, and professional hockey player Tanner Bennet, fell for each other back in college. They broke up when Tanner got his big break to play pro hockey. Finding love with another person never worked out for either of them, so they both resigned themselves to being single. Now they are both living in Chicago and Katelyn is planning the wedding of one of Tanner's teammates. The chemistry between Katelyn and Tanner is scorching. After eight years of separation, they are still madly in lust and love with each other. They begin getting to know each once again, which quickly evolves into rediscovery and mind-blowing sex. Spending time together results in a relationship that they never thought could be possible. I am a huge fan of Kelly Jamieson's work, and I always look forward to reading her latest book. This is an amazing novel. Not only does it have a nice balance between plot, sexiness and angst, it has an emotional element that caused me to shed quite a few tears. All the characters are warm, likeable and sincere. I found myself cheering for not only Katelyn and Tanner, but for a potential relationship between Tanner and his father. This is the fourth book from the author's Aces Hockey series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. Overall, if you like the second chance romance trope and hockey, then add Back Check to your TBR list. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

Katelyn and Tanner totally got to me in this book! This is the first book that I've read by this author and I absolutely loved it. I love second chance romances, but there was something about Katelyn and Tanner that spoke to me. Both of them were in completely different spots in their life than they had been when they were together in college. I loved Tanner's vulnerability and I loved Katelyn's spark and when Tanner tried to push her away, she decided she was going to fight for the person she loved. She wasn't going to be another person that walked out of his life and turned their back on him. She was going to be the person who sticks. I loved their chemistry and their story. There aren't too many hockey books that can get me to tear up, but this one totally did. I loved Katelyn and Tanner.

This series just seems to keep getting better and better. This is a great second chance story as Tanner Bennett is reunited with his first love Katelyn Medford when she turns out to be the new wedding planner for Lovey and Marc DuPuis. With the attraction as strong as ever these two can't help but reconnect. Will this time work or will history repeat itself?? This entire series is enjoyable and one I highly recommend. This book is one of the best!
