It's the late 1970s, and you come upon one of those rundown little diners that sit in the middle of nowhere along a road that most people would not even be on unless they are lost -- you always seem to find them on hot Sunday afternoons toward the end of summer.

Meet the Author

Harry Wastrack is a retired employee of the Federal Government. He has two passions -- writing and playing cards. He is the author of "The Essential Hand & Foot," which explains an updated and edgier version of Canasta and he is the president of 52 Plus Joker, the American Card Collector's Club. He also likes to tell stories and sometimes write them down. What he writes down can defy description, like "The Back Room."
