When Lauren Monroe first laid eyes on Michael Delaney back in high school, she had every reason to stay away from him; within minutes of their first encounter, his volatile actions confirmed his notorious reputation. But Lauren saw something in him that caused her to question his bad-boy persona, and against her better judgment, she took a chance. She had no way of knowing that the unlikely friendship they formed would become so important to her.

Or that it would end so painfully.

Refusing to revisit the hurt and confusion of their past, Lauren vows to keep her distance from him. But staying away from Michael proves to be more difficult than she thought, despite her lingering grief and her instincts for self-preservation.

As Lauren and Michael recall the friendship that changed them forever and the events that tore them apart, will they finally be able to heal? Or will the ghosts of Michael's past prove to be too much to overcome?

Editorial Reviews

Kirkus Reviews
First love between two unlikely teenagers comes full circle in this second-chance, friends-to-lovers debut from Glenn. Good-natured high school freshman Lauren Monroe can't get bad boy Michael Delaney out of her head. She's heard all the warnings of her fellow classmates, and she's even witnessed some of his rage in health class, where he flipped over a desk on the first day of school. But she can't shake the feeling that there is depth and reason behind his outlandish actions, and an unlikely friendship grows. He likes that she never asks him about which rumors are true, and she likes that she gets to know him in a way that no one else has. So it's no surprise when she slowly starts to fall in love with him. After sleeping together (her first time), Michael convinces himself that leaving town after graduation and never talking to her again is the best option for the future. Though he loves her, his past has damaged his ability to connect, and he feels he isn't good enough for her and will only let her down. Flash forward eight years. Lauren lives in a new town, and at her first day teaching day care, Michael shows up out of the blue with his enrolled 4-year-old daughter, Erin. Reluctant to dredge up the past or confront her feelings, they fall into a professional rhythm. But though Lauren begins dating her chiropractor, she can't forget her past with Michael. It's as hard to write a realistic, nonschmaltzy love story as it is to tell any other kind. Glenn not only succeeds here, but flourishes at making her characters both believable and engaging. Just as Nicholas Sparks did with The Notebook, Glenn tells the story of rekindled first love with a deft touch. Romance fans will devour this standout story.

Aestas Book Blog
It's a beautiful, believable second-chance friends-to-lovers story that was both heart breaking and heart warming, with an uplifting, satisfying ending that left me clutching my heart, with happy tears in my eyes and a smile on my face.
Natasha Is a Book Junkie
A poignantly and expertly written story of two healing hearts, the tale of Michael and Lauren is one that I suspect you will carry in your own heart for a very long time after you finish reading it.
Judith I Love YA Fiction
I LOVE THIS BOOK. It is the perfect balance between YA and romance...The chapters flow seamlessly between the past and present, between Lauren’s voice and Michael’s, and like every aspect of this book, Back To You is just effortlessly beautiful.

It has been a while since I’ve read a book that I thoroughly enjoyed this much, but Back to You has found itself on my “Favorites” bookshelf. From the first chapter, I was drawn into the story. Back to You follows the story of two best friends with radically different upbringings, who fall out of touch only to stumble back into each others' lives eight years later.

The heart of the story deals with anger and a loss of trust – though the reader is unsure why – on Lauren’s part. Though she’s grown up to be an independent, successful woman with a passion for working with children, her former friendship with Michael has far-reaching consequences in her life and on her ability to love.

As is often done with stories dealing with characters’ pasts, Glenn used the mixed-timeline method of storytelling. I can’t count the number of times that I have gotten lost in a story only to turn a page, find the story jumping several years into the past or future, and totally lose the feel of – and interest in – the overall story.

However, Glenn successfully balanced the time jumps, traversing the present and the past, from both Lauren’s and Michael’s points-of-view, with ease. This is no easy feat, and can often come off as disjointed and misplaced inserts that take you out of the story and quickly make you lose interest. Instead, what the reader gets is an emotionally-filled journey that takes you from the lives of children and teens to their adult counter-parts and their very realistic, divergent paths.

Of course, all of this to say that I genuinely enjoyed Back to You, and will definitely be following Priscilla Glenn, already anticipating her next work. It is an easy read, and you will likely struggle to put the book down.

Warning. I’m about to rave about this book for a little while. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Back to You is just a great romance novel. The story takes place in current day and is told from each Lauren and Michael’s POV’s.
The storyline flashbacks to when the two were in high school as well as to Michael’s troubled childhood.

Lauren and Michael were friends in high school who eventually fell in love. Michael had a mysterious past and was the topic of
much gossip. He is your classic ‘bad boy’ type; stand-offish and intense. When he meets Lauren, who is instantly drawn to him,
the two become friends. Michael feels like Lauren looks past his bad boy demeanor and sees the real him.
As the years go by, they remain close friends, but there is always that attraction just beneath the surface. Michael becomes very
protective over Lauren, he places her on somewhat of a pedestal. Lauren is the one who finally speaks up to him about her feelings,
I won’t say anything else so not to give too much away other than they lose contact. Finally, eight years pass before the two find each
     other by chance again.

Lauren is working as a pre-k teacher while going to night school for her masters degree in child psychology.
On her first day at work, Michael walks in to drop off his young daughter, one of Lauren’s new pupils.
I just love a good romantic reunion, and that is what happens here. I always enjoy romance that blossoms from friendship as well.
Author Priscilla Glenn gives plenty of background story to these characters to make them feel real and to make you care about their story.
I really enjoyed how the story was slowly revealed with the flashbacks and I just had to know what would become of these two.
Michael is a great hero because he puts Lauren’s feelings first. Lauren is a strong heroine, and as the story flows, you see how she’s
always missed Michael, but moved on with her life.
Highly recommended to fans of contemporary romance and to those looking to get swept away in a sweet story for a little while. I
will definitely be on the lookout for more from this author!

disclaimer: I purchased my copy of Back to You. This review is my honest opinion.

Back to You by Priscilla Glenn was a sweet love story that begins when Lauren and Michael are in high school. The story is told from both of their perspectives and fluctuates from when they are both in high school to present day. I loved how this story was told. It gave you a full view of the character growth and the relationship as it grew and fell apart. Lauren was a believable character. It shows how such a love and betrayal can effect a person and their future relationships. It changes her life. It took me a little while to warm up to Del. He's pretty much a man whore in high school, but I really enjoyed the man he grew into. This is pretty fitting though, as this is a lovely story about redemption, forgiveness, and of course, love. Back to You by Priscilla Glenn was provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.

    5

I can't believe this story doesn't have 5 rating! Sure, it was a bit predictable-But what a beautiful story about first love and overcoming a terrible childhood, in spite of all the obstacles. And I loved that we get both of the main characters' POVs. Usually that kind of thing gives me whiplash, but this story was done beautifully. I can't wait to read more by this author.

Not bad but not good either

This book was OK, but it left me wanting to feel more of a connection with the characters, it fell a little flat.

    Fabulous!

I really enojyed reading this book, literally stayed up all night because I didn't want to put it down. The writing was amazing and the characters were so in depth that I truly felt a connection with them.

I was also extremely happy that the story has an ending, no stupid cliff hangers that make you feel like you read an imcomplete book.

This was my first book by this author but certainly won't be my last!
