I am a sucker for a rock star especially a hot, sultry, irresist

I am a sucker for a rock star especially a hot, sultry, irresistible lead singer. Jack Lair of Devil’s Lair is just that. Add in a rock goddess and this book and I were a match made in heaven. With the additional tension that comes with being in the same band and not wanting to jeopardize a budding career, Back-Up was enticing, engaging, and intoxicating.
The first thing that really caught and held my attention was the dual point of view. I really enjoy a dual perspective especially when the man actually thinks and acts like a man. Jack, the manwhore, had plenty of testosterone and seeing things from his viewpoint really helped me to understand and connect with him as well as his feelings for Leila.
“I can’t stop thinking about you. Since my party, you have consumed my thoughts. You have taken over my life.”
Jack is a character that is easy to love. He is sexy and seductive and definitely susceptible to thinking with the wrong head, but he is also incredibly sweet and charming with a heart of gold. Leila is great. She is cute and shy and very real I just wished she had more confidence in herself and especially her talent. The sexual tension and chemistry between these two was sizzling. I really enjoy a slow build in a relationship and even though these two had an immediate draw to one another it takes a bit of time and a few steamy kisses before either realizes or admits their feelings.
“I enjoy being with her. This realization no longer scares me. What scares me more is being apart.”
I immensely enjoyed all of the other characters in the book as well especially Leila and Jack’s best friends Evan and Hunter. Trey and Lori were fun and amusing, Jennifer is the perfect antagonist who still has lots of potential for trouble, and even Matt seemed to have a redeeming quality or two.
Rock star lover like myself or not, I would definitely recommend Back-Up. It is the real, human side of growing stardom and is truly just a great love story with a rock star bonus. Not to mention a few surprising twists that leave you thirsting for Front and Center the next installment in the story.

3.5 stars/Sizzling Heat Back Up by A.M Madden wasn't the typica

    3.5 stars/Sizzling Heat

Back Up by A.M Madden wasn't the typical rocker story I was expecting, instead of jumping into a band on tour the reader gets to peak behind the workings of Devil's Lair and follow the guys as they prepare for the tour and rehearse with a new back ground vocalist.  This was interesting, you never get to see how a band comes together with a new addition before a tour and I like that different "take" on a rocker romance.

Leila and Jack were two very talented singers and their chemistry was off the charts!  A.M. Madden did a wonderful job letting us get to know these characters and letting the characters get to know each other.  Back Up is a story that has a great cast of characters, you get to know about Leila's bandmates and friends and then the boys of Devil's Lair.  I will admit it took a bit for me to understand who was who and keep all these characters straight, but once I had it sorted it was nice to see how all the characters interacted and related to each other.

Back Up was a good start to a new series even though it tended to drag in pacing at points (I think there might have been too many life changing things happening to the characters all at once).  I knew this was a series going in so I wasn't surprised that we didn't get a complete/finished story, but I was surprised that the series is going to follow just Jack and Leila, with all the characters I was hoping for a series that focused on a different bandmate in each book (like The Black Falcon series).  Regardless, A.M. Madden definitely gave Jack and Leila a lot to handle in their upcoming tour!

If you are a fan of rocker romances without all the mind numbing, angst/fighting/crazy drama then Back Up would be a great series to pick up!

Front & Center (book 2 in the series) will be released on February 18, 2014!

I bought the box set of The Back Up Series, but I wanted to be sure that I also wrote a review for each individual book in the series as well.
In book 1, Back Up, it is the story of lead singer/woman lover Jack Lair and Leila Marino who has always wanted to be a rock star.  When the two first meet its attraction at full force.  Throughout the story the two struggle to keep it a "friends" only situation.  I don't give spoilers away, but let me tell you this book keeps you wanting more.
The characters are well written and each have their own interesting story.
This book is great and I can not wait to read the rest of the series.

    A hidden rocker gem

Ok so it's not Olivia Cunning, but it's real people that I could identify with. I liked the whole series, but I LOVED the last book that takes the reader into their day to day lives after the drama is over. This writer is going places!

I'm in love with Jack Lair. I won't even bother trying to deny it. He's sexy and amazing and if he and Leila weren't so perfect for one another, I'd try my damnedest to steal him from her. But, alas, they are amazing together, perfect. They complement one another and support one another even when things aren't perfect. Hunter, Scott, Trey, Evan, Matt, Lori and the rest of the gang make this the perfect beginning to what's sure to be an amazing series.

OMG I can not even begin to say how much I loved this book. I love me some rock stars but Jack really did take the cake for me on this series.

Devils Lair is a band that is just beginning to make it big and they are looking to make their sound more unique so in comes Lelia their new back up singer the sexy girl from jersey who completely throws jacks world off kilter. She's the perfect addition to the band. What I love about this book is there's not huge amount of back and forth drama or insta love. They build a friendship and progress from there. I love the background characters from Leila's old band the cliffhangers as well. they make lots of appearances. :) you will laugh cry and literally want to throw your kindle by the end of the book and go straight for the next (if it's not broken)

Who doesn't love a good Rocker Romance? Well, if you haven't taken one for a spin yet, let this be your first. A.M. Madden most definitely hits all the right notes! Back-up is an super great 5 star read! All of her characters, main and secondary, are so well written that you can easily see them as your friends. The story flows so smoothly you don't realize how long you've been sitting there ignoring everything around you as you flip page after page after page..time just flies! I love her writing style...here's a little snippet:
As I drive my humiliated ass back to Hoboken, I try to analyze what the hell happened in that studio. I'm almost afraid to hope for this job. Let's fast forward and assume I get hired...the what? Can I survive being in his presence daily, when I couldn't even make it through a twenty-minute audition? What am I saying? Of course I want this job. Plus, I don't even know this man. He probably is a complete jackass. As I try to convince myself that Jack is indeed a jackass, a tiny voice in the back of my demented brain says, "You'd better hope so."

I love the way the chapters switch from Leilas POV to Jacks POV... I usually don't like all the switching, but AM Madden does it marvelously...you're not ever confused on who is doing the "thinking"! And did I mention this HOT SEXY ROCKER? well how can you have a hot, sexy rocker with no sex? duh, you can't...so here's a little "taste"
~Laying my hand on his chest, I can feel his heart pounding. Succumbing to the incessant urge to touch him, I run my hands over his chess, abdomen, and hips. Tracing his erection with my fingertips, he closes his eyes and moans, completely lost in my touch. I take his hand and lead him toward my bed... "I've dreamt of you...of kissing you...of tasting you."

The story is flying by...I'm really into it, and then I hit a brick wall.. I so wasn't expecting that curve ball... then, I get beyond that, and then dammit...along comes a smack upside the head.. what the hell...why'd that have to happen? GRRRR...so I am impatiently awaiting the release of Front & Center...at least it's not a long wait.

Jack Lair is a rockstar that has it all, woman, money and fame.

Jack Lair is a rockstar that has it all, woman, money and fame. Most of all he has a great family. His band Devil's Lair is looking to add a new back up singer to their group. Leila a small town singer from Hoboken is noticed singing with her band by a girlfriend of one of the band members of Devil's Lair. One thing leads to another and Leila gets an interview to  sing for them. She is awestruck when she meets Jack. There's definitely chemistry there, but both want to keep it professional. This book is heartwarming, funny and a must read. I was so glad I read this book after book 2 was out. It leaves you wanting more. I immediately read book 2 Front and Center the minute I was done with Back Up.

For a while I have been seeing post on facebook about Jack Lair, and I was like who is this guy, and what book is he in. Well, I finally found him and I am so glad that I did. He is a young rock star on his way to the top, when a little lady named Leila, brings him to his knees. Jack's group "Devil's Lair", is looking for a back-up singer. Leila, is a small town singer with a band named Cliffhangers, but her lifelong dream has been to be a rock star. When she goes to audition for the job, she is nervous, giddy, and star struck by Jack, but Jack and his band are thrown for a loop by this girls voice. She gets the job, and from the beginning the chemistry between her and Jack is off the charts. There seems to be a magnetic pull between the two, and although Jack never saw it coming, he finds himself falling hard. I loved this book and all the characters in it. The band members are like family, and treat each other as if they are. I love the fact that it is also written in both Jack and Leila's POV. It made me laugh, cry, swoon, and want to punch something, several times, but I could not help falling in love with Jack and Leila. These two are perfect for one another, but will his past come back to haunt them? Let's just say his past is a little promiscuous! Now it is time to start the second book in this series, and I am really looking forward to that.

Wow! This book exceeded my expectations. I had high hopes for a book that combines two of my favourite things...romance  and music.
I have to admit I was hooked from the start. What isn't to love about Back Up. Leila is an kind, hot, dedicated backing vocalist for her local band with a steady gig who lands the audition of a life time.
Stepping through the door to audition for Devils Lair turns Leila into a stumbling mess when she first lay her eyes on the sexy, passionate and incredibly talented lead singer Jack Lair.
Without giving too much away what starts as two people trying to ignore the sexual tension and have a professional relationship turns into a steamy, passionate, irresistible story that you won't be able to put down.

Back-Up by A.M. Madden is a sweet story of young love developing gently over time – NOT.
Back-Up is the story of love at nearly first sight. Telling how love can come unexpected, run over you like a freight train, and become an all-consuming fire until the object of your love is all you think of and your reason for being – True Soul Mates. A love that burns bright and, hopefully lays the foundation born of strength that will carry the main characters through the turmoil that is looming and we know it’s coming because we meet Jack and Leila on the cusp of stardom born of a talent that seems to be innate. However, it is the exact same fame that can breed contempt in those the newly famous meet along the way to stardom creating hurdles that may be too large for them to overcome when a love burns so brightly. While the reader is left wondering if their love will continue to shine or implode like a supernova they will also be crying out for Jack and Leila to Back-Up and slow down while reaching for Front & Center.
I do not usually read rocker romances but Back-Up is a roller coaster 5-star read worthy of your time and you may as well click on the rest of the series while you are there because you will not want to miss a moment of Jack, Leila, and Devil’s Lair.

You said I would be excited and happy when I meet Jack Lair. You were right, of course I totally did and and I want more!¿
I love Layla as well. Very sweet.
Story starts off when Leila gets a tip for a back-up singer for the band DEVIL's LAIR while still playing for the CLIFFHANGERS. She goes to her audition and that's where Jack Lair comes in for the first time.¿

    "Are you Leila?"
"Um, yes... I'm Leila." My response sounds completely winded.
Sweet Jesus... He is so pretty.
I've never been hypnotized before, but I'm guessing this is as close as it gets. I literally fall into trance, staring at Jack while he pins me with his penetrating gaze. A few seconds later (or maybe even minutes?), my stupefied state causes him to call my name for the second time.
"Sorry... Yes, I'm Leila. Um... My dad loves Eric Clapton, but mine is spelled differently, my mom didn't like Clapton's spelling..." I paused uncomfortably. "Um sorry. Yes, I am here for the audition."
Oh crap! Shut up Leila! A stinging blush rises from my toes and creeps up my entire body.
While smiling he responds, "So do I."
    "Excuse me?"
    "Love Clapton."
    "Um... Oh."
    Um... Oh? Really?
I sound like a complete moron.
He's gorgeous face got me all flustered. Using the word handsome to describe Jack Lair seems inadequate. His hair is dark, shorter on the sides, and is floppy, sexy, and screams touch me on top. I have to hold my hands behind my back to avoid the impulse of doing just that. His eyes are just WOW. They are smoky grey and completely mesmerizing.
The light subble on his face subtly defines the cleft in his chin, which is square and masculine.

My type of rock star.¿ If your in to hot steamy and very romantic this is the book for you. Leila and Jack both tried to convince themselves that friendship is their only option. BUT I guess you'll just have to get the book to find out what happens with the friendship they try to have.¿ Make out sessions here and there was so HAWT, that at times I had to fan myself. Totally loved it A.M. Madden!
I can't wait for Front and Center to come out! Adding Jack Lair to my BBF list.¿

Can't wait to sink my teeth into the next book in thi series. Love AM Madden. I am a fangirl for sure.

OMG How was I living without meeting Jack Lair????

Okay first things first, you gotta meet Jack Lair, he is just, wow!! (Can you tell I'm a bit obsessed with him?LOL)

This was a fantastic read. It grabbed me from the beginning, and I couldn't put it down. I started reading, next thing I know I'm at 35%, yes, that good. I love the characters, its well written, and I love the story. I have a thing for rocker series, and this one is definitely going on my list of favorites.

Leila is a very talented girl with big dreams of becoming a rockstar. When she auditions for Jack's band (Devil's air) to be their back-up singer, she is completely hypnotized by him. And I mean, how can she not be?? He is so freaking dreamy, like I want one of him for me dreamy!! LOL.... Jack is a cocky, manwhore, sexy as hell rocker who has any woman he wants as his beck and call. But once he meets Leila, he starts feeling things that are new to him, and he can't get her out of his head. I love the way their relationship progresses. The side characters are great, they have some really funny scenes on the book.

That last chapter man, had me screaming at my kindle!! Like I wanted to kick someone or something!! I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I need more Jack Lair in my life. :D <3
