From Chapter 1

Brian, lounging in the center of the table, vocalized a riff, while playing masterful air guitar on his back. Myrna recognized the series of notes at once. She used it in her class discussion on male sensuality, because no one on earth played a guitar more sensually than Master Sinclair. Hold the phone! Could that be...? Nah, what would the rock group Sinners be doing at a college teaching conference? They were probably just fans of the band, though the name Brian made her lead guitarist senses tingle. Wasn't Sinners' lead guitarist named Brian Sinclair?

One of the men seated in the booth turned his head to scratch his chin with his shoulder. Despite his mirrored sunglasses, she instantly recognized vocalist Sedric Lionheart. Her heart rate kicked up a couple notches. It was Sinners.

"I am so fucking drunk!" Brian yelled. He rolled off the table, knocking over several empty beer glasses, and landed on the laps of two of his companions. They dumped him unceremoniously on the floor.

Myrna snorted and then glanced around to make sure no one had witnessed her produce such an unladylike sound. She had to go talk to them. She could pretend she wanted to meet them because of her seminar. In truth, she loved their music. They weren't too hard on the eyes either. The definition of exactly her type. Wild. Yes, please. Guaranteed to give her exactly what she needed after the day she'd had.

Abandoning her plan to hide in her room, Myrna skirted the low wall that separated the lounge area from the corridor. She paused in front of Brian, who was struggling to crawl to his hands and knees. She set her lumpy laptop case on the floor and bent to help him to his feet. The instant she touched his arm, her heart skipped a beat and then began to race.

Animal magnetism. He had it. Hello, Mr. Welcome Diversion.

His gaze drifted up her legs and body, his face slowly tilting into view. He had features a sculptor would love: strong jaw, pointed chin, high cheekbones. Would it be presumptuous of her to examine the contours of his face with her fingertips? Her lips? She forced her attention to her hand, which gripped his well-muscled upper arm.

"Be careful with this arm," she said. "So few guitarists have your skill."

He used her support to stagger to his feet. When he stumbled against her, she caught his scent and inhaled deeply, her eyes drifting closed. Primal desire bombarded her senses. Did she just growl aloud?

His strong hands gripped her shoulders as he steadied himself. Every nerve ending in her body shifted into high alert. She couldn't remember that last time she'd been instantaneously attracted to a man.

Brian released her and leaned against the back of the booth for support. He blinked hard, as if trying to focus his intense, brown eyes on her face. "You know who I am?" he asked, his voice slurred.

She smiled and nodded eagerly. "Who doesn't?"

He waved a hand around theatrically, which set him even further off balance. "Every stuffed-shirt geek in the whole damned place, that's who."

He snarled at a gray-haired woman in a heavy cardigan who sat openly gaping at him. The woman gasped and turned her attention to her ocean blue cocktail, slurping the blended beverage through a tiny, red straw as nonchalantly as possible.

"Brian, don't start shit," Sed, the group's lead singer, said.

The acidic look Brian shot at Sed could peel paint. "What? I'm not starting anything. These people all have fuck-king staring problems!"

True. They were staring. Most of them at Myrna now. Probably wondering how to best rescue her from enemy territory.

"Do you mind if I sit with you for a while?" Myrna asked, hoping to become less noticeable by sitting. She tucked the lock of hair that had escaped her hairclip behind her ear and smiled at Brian hopefully. He stroked his eyebrow with his index finger as he contemplated her request. She knew what he must be thinking. Why would a stuffy-looking chick in a business suit request to sit with five rock stars?

Sed scooted over in the semi-circular booth and patted the empty expanse of forest green vinyl beside him. She tugged her gaze from Brian to look at Sed. Sed's boy-next-door good looks contrasted his bad-boy, womanizing reputation. She didn't follow the personal lives of the bands she admired, but even she knew Sed's rep. His smile, complete with dimples, could ice a cake, which was likely why he covered it so rapidly with a scowl. A quick veil of indifference returned his cool status. Those darling dimples didn't quite fit his image.

Myrna slid into the booth next to Sed, wiping her sweaty palms on her skirt as she settled beside him. Okay, I'm in. Now what?

"Are you some kind of business woman or something?" Sed leaned back to examine her professional attire.

Myrna didn't mind his twice over. "Or something. Actually, I'm a stuffed-shirt geek. A college professor here at the conference."

"No shit?" She recognized the speaker, who sat across from her, as Eric Sticks, the band's drummer. "If I'd have known college professors were hot, I might have considered an education."

Myrna laughed. She glanced up at Brian who still leaned against the booth next to Eric's right shoulder. Her heart gave a painful throb. God, he was gorgeous. "Would you like to sit down, Brian?"

Myrna scooted closer to Sed, her knee settling against his beneath the table. Brian collapsed on the seat beside her, lodging her between two of the sexiest and most talented musicians in the business. She'd died and gone to heaven. Play it cool, Myrna. If you start spazzing out like a fan girl, they'll tell you to get lost. And she certainly didn't want that.

Brian leaned forward and rested his forehead on the table with a groan. It took all of Myrna's concentration not to offer a soothing touch. She knew who he was, but he didn't know her from Adam. Well, hopefully, he could tell her from Adam, but, uh...

She took a deep breath to collect her scattered thoughts and forced her attention to Eric. She could look at him without getting all giddy, but found she couldn't stop staring at his insane hairstyle-half-long, a center strip of short spikes, the rest various lengths and just plain strange. A crimson, finger-thick lock curled around the side of his neck. Rock star hair. She stifled an excited giggle.

"So what do you teach?" Eric took a sip of his beer, his pale blue eyes never leaving her face. Well, maybe he checked out her chest a little, but he mostly kept his gaze above her neck.

Myrna winced at his question and lowered her eyes to the table. Any chance of her earning their respect would evaporate the moment she revealed what subject she taught. "Do I have to say?"

"Come on."

She sighed heavily. "Human Sexuality."

Eric sputtered in his beer. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "Fuck me."

"Well, yeah, I guess that is my subject matter," Myrna said, with a crooked grin.

The guys laughed. Except for Brian. Unmoving, his head still rested on the table in front of him. Had he lost consciousness? Wasted didn't come close to describing his current condition.

"Is he okay?" Myrna asked.

"Yeah, he's just a little fucked up," Eric said.

"He's a lot fucked up," said Trey Mills, the band's rhythm guitarist, who lounged in the booth next to Eric.

"Shut up," Brian murmured. He turned his head to look up at Myrna. He held one eye closed as he tried to focus on her. She had an inexplicable urge to straighten his tousled, jet-black hair, which fell just below collar-length and stuck out at odd angles all over his head. "What's your name, Professor Sex?"

She smiled. Maybe he was interested. "Myrna."

He chuckled. "That's an old lady's name."

Or... maybe he wasn't. She hoped she hid her disappointment well.

So once again, I've hit a book that is almost too much for my p

So once again, I've hit a book that is almost too much for my poor brain to wrap around. I am on sensory overload. So I am going to break this baby down into two segments: the story and the sex. Sound good? Let's do this!

The story. Myrna is a sexual behavior professor at a conference. She happens to see members of her favorite band, Sinners, having a great time drinking in the hotel. She introduces herself to the band, and quickly becomes acquainted with them. They would all love to get down with her, but she has her eyes on Master Sinclair, lead guitarist. Brian "Master" Sinclair is actually the master at getting his heart broken. He repeatedly falls for his girlfriends, only to have his heart stomped on when they cheat, usually with his bandmates. When he meets Myrna, Brian is immediately smitten. He falls hard for the beautiful professor with an exciting sexual appetite. The problem is, Myrna doesn't want love. She only wants right now. So Brian sets out to win Myrna's heart. To give her a reason to stay with him. Forever.

BACKSTAGE PASS was a terrific story. I love a great romance with a strong, secure female lead. Myrna is a force. She knows what she wants, in life and in the bedroom. Her lack of naivete was a welcome change from what I typically see in romance novels. Brian was beyond wonderful. I'm a firm believer that there are fewer things in life sexier than rock stars. When you add the fact that Brian is a hopeless romantic, a one woman man..well, that just seals the deal for me. I absolutely loved him. The road these two take, in getting to really know one another, the give-and-take that transpires as they slowly build a relationship, was gorgeous. I loved that author Olivia Cunning really took her time with Brian and Myrna. Stories like that make the payoff so much sweeter.

Now for the smexy times. *rubs hands together* This is one. hot. book. HOT! Listen, you know how I just said that rock stars are the sexiest things ever? Scratch that. Rock stars who hear music when they're making love and use their lover's body to write the notes on are the hottest things ever. Ever. I just...my brain wants to 'splode when I imagine it. Hot. As for the adventures of Myrna and Brian. Talk about wild. I totally felt like I should take notes while I was reading. Myrna is determined to explore every naughty fantasy she's ever had. Brian is more than willing to share them with her. I have to admire her, the woman knows what she wants and has the cajones to say it. I won't go into all the naughty bits, and there are a lot. Let's just say I will never look at cherry suckers the same way ever again. *falls over dead*

It would be an epic understatement to say I really liked this book. BACKSTAGE PASS is a book I shall re-read many times, probably when I need a good pick-me-up. I am ridiculously excited to read book two, ROCK HARD. I already have book three, DOUBLE TIME, on pre-order. Olivia Cunning is now an "auto buy" author for me. So if you like hot guys, strong women and sexy times, this series is for you!

    Solid Debut

To be clear, this is an erotica novel. Except for the abundance of super hot sex, though, it doesn't read like most erotica at all after the first 10 percent of the book. There is an actual plot, and the characters have depth. There is a connection between the main couple that goes beyond the next orgasm. I will admit to having serious doubts about the validity of the positive reviews at the beginning of the book. The scene detailing the initial meeting between Human Sexuality professor Myrna Evans and The Sinners seemed stilted and forced, not at all realistic on a lot of levels. But once Myrna decides to travel with the band for the summer, the story started to grab me and by the time I was halfway through, I didn't want the book to end. I am so delighted that each Sinner is getting his own story!

Brian is a beta hero to die for. He is looking for love, a connection, something permanent and real. After we meet his parents, his motivations become more clear. He wants Myrna from the first, and is way more invested in their relationship than she appears to be.

Myrna is harder to get to know and like. We get her motivation in the form of inner dialogue that regurgitates her experiences with her stalker ex husband, but the lady has some deep seeded issues that make her kind of hard to like. That said, the reader can understand why Myrna is the way she is, and when she tells off Brian's father, she redeems herself mightily.

The boys in the band are well drawn, with surprising depth. Again, I am looking forward to each one of their books. Especially Trey.

The good - Characters. Sex. Ms. Cunning writes realistic men. They act like guys, not like women think they want guys to act.

The not as good - Myrna is tough to get to know and like. Also, the story requires some suspension of belief. Back in another lifetime (late 80's, early 90's), I knew a lot of local band folk, and knowing how they acted made it hard for me to buy in to certain parts of the storyline. The partying, the drinking, the sex - very realistic. The guitar god going for a 35 year old in a suit? Who wants them to clean their tour bus? Not so much. And to her credit, the author addresses the age issue. Small, nitpicky issue that probably would not bother your average reader, but kept pulling me out of the story.

Some parts of the story were not really resolved. There is a menage scene that had heavy emotional impact, in which a plot twist was alluded to, but nothing came of it. This was the most intriguing scene in the entire book for me, though. Lots of potential for angst, and I am sure we will hear more about the issue that was uncovered in an upcoming book.

All in all, I was won over by Backstage Pass. I was impressed with the depth of the characters, especially Brian. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

This book just gives you everything you desire in an erotic passionate lustful story! Brian and Myrna are so great together! I have read this book and Rock Hard, which is also great, but this is my favorite thus far. I am currently reading book 3, Hot Ticket which is Jace's story and its already starting out amazing!

    Hot?

I couldn't finish it because it grossed me out. It wasn't even the sex that got to me or the cussing, (heaven knows I cuss). There were just certain aspects, I couldn't get over. There was one part where the two main characters were doing it while one band mates watched. And the words that were used to describe their body parts weren't very flattering either. Maybe I'm a prude but can't consider this book sexy.

    Not good

This was not good i could not finish this book. I had to stop at page 58. Waste of money. If you like reading about a professional that comes across a band and is sexually abused by this band ,then this is your cup of erotica. This was flat out nasty and disrespectful to a woman and her values. This woman was not normal in the head as this author writes.

    Pass On It

Boring, predictable, and incredibly unrealistic. None of the characters had any likeable traits. The plot was completely unbelievable - a college professor studies the behaviors of groupies, but never realizes that she's doing exactly the same thing? I have no desire or plans to read the other books in this series.

Brian 'Master' Sinclair is a guitar GOD and smokin' hot, as is the rest of the Sinners band! Can you even imagine anything better than touring with these incredible guys!!??

All I can say is this was an incredible story with lovable, fun characters, and OH! MY! GOD! HOT SEX! and lots of it! No one in this book has any inhibitions which is AWESOME! I am very anxiously(if a little impatiently) awaiting the next book in this series, I believe Sed has quite an emotional story to be told I just know it!

    Loved.

I loved Brian from the start. Hes everything I personally want in a boyfriend. Hes incredibly romantic, hes musical, and his sex drive is insane. His relationship with Myrna was interesting to read. She was so emotionally closed off and he was so emotionally open even when he tried not to be. You cant help but fall in love with him!

    Ok

It was ok. Maybe my opinion is based on the fact that I don't really like erotic novels. I honestly didn't know this was one until I bought it after reading the sample. It was a good story line and it would have been better if there was more of the background story w Jeremy. Myrna made him sound like this complete a**hole, and in the end he was a cowering little punk. Less sex and more drama would have made this book better, but of course that's my own opinion. Myrna - a complete slut imo. Walking around naked infront of the rest of the band and then letting them touch her because she sooo lost to the sensations Brians giving her.....yes Jeremy was correct you are infact a slut. Brian - GROW A PAIR!! he was a sweetheart but too much of a sweetheart Sid - not enough words in the vocabulary fo this guy. How did brian not punch him before when he stole his past girlfriends?

    Whoa

Ok. You want something hot, steamy, and open-minded, this is your book. It is well written and fasted paced. I was a little concerned about the amount of certaint bodily fluids being thrown around but, hey to each thier own. Heres the deal...you want something NEW, this is it. It is truly what you would expect to happen in a rock band hotel room...and more. All the characters are pretty likeable..
