    I really like this disc

This is perfect for learning to transcribe music by ear, and I love the songs. The arrangements are good, and the accompanying booklet is a nice reference. I really recommend just using the booklet to see what key the song is written in, and then transcribing the melody by ear. The set up of this disc gives you the perfect opportunity to practice that.

It was an AWESOME idea to break the songs into three tracks: Slow melody, up-to-speed melody, and just rhythm. The slow melody, in particular, is so helpful.

There is one annoying thing. On one or two of the fast melody tracks I've listened to so far, the cellist is playing on the backside of the beat. This sounds wonky b/c the rhythm in the background is on the front-side of the beat. It took someone with far more expertise than me to place that problem, but even a beginner can hear that the song doesn't sound as good as it should. This doesn't bother me too much, though, because I've found that I very rarely need to hear the fast melody. It's the slow tracks that are essential to me, and the rhythm tracks are a nice extra.

Overall, I get everything I need out of the disc, and definitely think I'm getting my money's worth. After just a few weeks I've already noticed that it's helping me learn how to improvise my own melody!
