Bird Identification

One of the first things you want to do when determining the identity of a bird is to remember the key physical features of the bird that you observed. You can then consult your backyard bird guide to identify the specific bird you have seen, using those physical features noted as clues. Writing down key physical features always helps me remember them more accurately when later reviewing my guide. The advent of digital cameras makes it easier to take a photograph for later study. Making a simple sketch is also helpful. You can make marks and notes on your sketch that will later help you whittle down the pos´ú┐sible suspect list.
