Overview

The newest Blood Coven novel-accompanied by edgy repackages of the rest of the series

Sunny McDonald is in the ultimate forbidden relationship. Her boyfriend Magnus is a vampire, and the leader of the Blood Coven. And when the Coven decides that Magnus needs a mate to be his co-ruler, Sunny's humanity puts her out of the running. The Coven's chosen candidate is Jane Johnson, a magna cum laude graduate of Oxford University who just happens to look like a vampiric supermodel.

Sunny is suspicious of a Rhodes Scholar who can't answer the most basic poli-sci questions, but Magnus brushes it off as petty jealousy. Still, when the Blood Coven goes to Las Vegas for a vampire convention, Sunny and her twin sister Rayne secretly tag along. And Sunny's not going home before she learns the truth about Jane. Because not everything stays in Vegas-especially bad blood.

Meet the Author

Mari Mancusi used to wish she could become a vampire back in high school. But she ended up in another blood sucking  profession—journalism—instead. Today she works as a television news producer for the NBC station in Boston and has won two Emmys for her work. As if writing and TV producing weren't enough to keep her busy, Mari also enjoys snowboarding, clubbing, shopping, 80s music, and her favorite guilty pleasure—video games. She lives in the Boston area with her husband and two dogs.

    A splendid vampire tale

It is not easy being a seventeen years old high school student especially having a boyfriend who is a thousand years old vampire. Complicating matters for Magnus the vampire head of the Blood Coven and human Sunny McDonald is she does not want to convert while his followers demand he accept a blood mate to co-rule; humans are forbidden. While he conceals his destiny from her, she learns all about it from Rhodes Scholar Oxford University magna cum laude Jane Johnson, the coven's chosen one.

Sunny has issues beyond jealousy though that is what Magnus assumes is eating at her. Instead Sunny wonders how someone graduating from prestigious Oxford with honors, knows nothing, even common information, about her school and teachers. Worse she dresses trashy and acts as if the educated are beneath her contempt. Something is not right so when the Coven heads to Vegas for the blood mate convention, Sunny and her vampiric-slayer twin sister Rayne secretly go with them to prove Jayne is a fake before the binding exchange of vows occurs.

Sunny is a pure blood normal American teen who has accepted that vampire exist with a calm demeanor even as she is the readers prime escort into a fascinating sub-culture that resides within the greater society. Volunteer blood donors insure the edict of not killing humans is enforced. Sunny is somewhat hurt that Magnus blows away her concerns rejecting the initial circumstantial evidence she provides without listening. She vows to save him anyway and find a mortal teenage male who she could care for. Although campy and amusing, the latest Blood Coven young adult urban fantasy (see Stake That, Girls That Growl and Boys That Bite) is a splendid vampire tale.

    Bad Blood

Bad Blood is the 4th book in the Blood Coven Vampire novels by Mari Mancusi. At the end of Girls That Growl, Sunny learns a disturbing bit of information about her vampire boyfriend Magnus, he's been assigned a new blood mate by the council named Jane. Sunny gets a bad vibe from this new Jane person right away and decides she's got to do something to find out what her real story is and save Magnus from making the biggest mistake of his eternal life. Rayne is of course along for this ride but isn't very helpful like Sunny had hoped she'd be. But nevertheless Sunny moves on with her investigation and at the last minute saves the day with just a little help from Rayne in the end. As Sunny goes through this journey she meets a boy in Las Vegas named Jayden who ends up helping her out a lot out of the kindness of his heart and they develop a friendship. More McDonald family secrets get revealed at the end of this book which leave you begging to read more!

    Awesomeeeeeeeeeee book ! :)

This book is awesome :) One thing i really like is that its in Vegas, bay-bee :)
It made me fell like i was part of the book because it mentions some of the casinos I've been in. When Magnus gets assign a new blood mate Jane, i felt how Sunny would of felt. When Sunny saw Jane/Sasha kissed Cornelius i thought this inst right.
When sunny first meet Jayden i thought he is cute and emo looking is good for sunny but we all know who sunny loves. When Sunny was having fun with Jayden, Eric, and Allegra i was like finally Sunny is having fun :) When Sunny and Jayden were trapped the trailer with Cornelius i got a little bit scared because how were they going to get out. when Sunny saved the day and then Rayne comes and staked Jane/Sasha i got happy:) I really like this book and i hope more people read the Blood Coven Vampire novels by Mari Mancusi. :)

    I Also Recommend:

    Good Blood

At first I was disappointed that this book wasn't written in Rayne's point of view, but Sunny was amazing in this book. The plot was enticing, but slow at certain times. I loved Stormy and Jayden, the characters were Charming. Although the extremely shocking ending didn't seem very realistic I'm excited to read the next installment in the Blood Coven series, Night School.

    Loved this book!

Bad Blood is in Sunny's point of view. This book is maddning and sad to read but it does have high points. I couldn't believe Magnus didn't believe Sunny's suspcions about the mysterious Jane. And when Rayne was too busy playing her luck on the slots to help Sunny that made me mad. And at the end I really wonder if Jayden's sacrifice was for love or to really help or for both? This book was a page turner for me and I bet it will be for you if you read it.

Horray for the Blood coven series!

In this installment of the Blood Coven Series we join Sunny again as things were finally settling down or so she thinks. As she is all goo goo with Magnus after Rayne's football game she hears a voice calling out to Magnus, Sunny then learns that this is no normal girl but infact Magnus' new blood mate but something just dont seem right about Jane who is this character in Bad Blood. As a big vampire convention comes to Las Vegas Magnus tells Sunny she can not attend even though she has suspected that Jane is a fraud and is trying to bring down Magnus and the rest of the blood coven...can she pull it off??? who knows....

This was one of my favorites of the blood coven series. Once again Mari has made an amazing book(

    Reviewed by LadyJay for TeensReadToo.com

Sunny McDonald is living an atypical teenage life. Her boyfriend, Magnus, a centuries-old vampire, is Master of one of the most powerful covens in the world. Her twin sister, Rayne, has been transformed into a vampire (by her own choosing), but has somehow managed to retain some of her human qualities, AND is a vampire slayer for Slayer, Inc.

And, of course, there is the tiny detail that Sunny and Rayne's parents conveniently left out of their family history (but I'll leave that for you to discover).

Sunny's life is certainly not boring. Between saving Magnus from an evil vampire and performing in the Sun Hotel's production of Bram Stoker's Dracula, Sunny doesn't have much time for "normal" teenage activities.
That doesn't seem to bother Sunny, though.

BAD BLOOD is Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets the members of the HOUSE OF NIGHT. Mancusi's fast prose and witty remarks will have readers glued to the page. Her allusions, ranging from OPI's newest and hottest color to Hot Topic fashion, will appeal to today's hip and with-it teenage population.

I'm sure there will be many more stories with Sunny and Rayne at the helm. This is definitely a series with bite!!
