More About This Book

Overview

Some things are sweeter than revenge.

“I need a boyfriend.”

Hearing those words from the mouth of his very straight ex-friend is enough to make columnist and editor Nate Gray choke on his Corona. It’s been thirteen years since Kellan Brooks’s father crushed Nate’s family on his climb to wealth and power. Even longer since he entrusted Kellan with the confession that he might be gay—only to have his best friend out and humiliate him to their entire high school. The last thing Nate expects is Kellan begging for his help.

Breaking off his engagement to a senator’s daughter was the last straw for Kellan’s CEO father. Frustrated at being cut off, his father’s stinging words—that he wishes Kellan had never been born—still ringing in his ears, Kellan turns to Nate. In a move worthy of a corporate raider, Kellan plans the ultimate revenge. Come out as the boyfriend of the man his homophobic father betrayed.

Convincing Nate to play along isn’t easy. It’s even harder to figure out why the lie feels so close to the truth.

Warning: Contains old friends, old enemies, a dramatic cat rescue, soft drink references and a lot of teasing before the steamy sex. Readers are cautioned against drinking any beverage while reading to avoid accidental snorting or spraying of said beverages.

    Fantastic Read

Some books are meant to be read over and over again. To be cherished like old friends. Dog-eared and loved. This is one of those books.

I know when I open a book by K.A. Mitchell, I'm going to be transported, not to a far off place filled with magical creatures and lore, but to what feels like my life. And I wouldn't have it any other way. Ms. Mitchell drew me in with vivid details, spicy scenes, and characters that stole my heart. I get to step into a world much like my own with people I can relate to.

Kellan and Nate aren't perfect, I have to state that up front. The guys have some serious issues, but it's in the details and how these two men deal with things that I couldn't tear myself away from. The opening of the book is...a little tense and a little far-fetched, but don't let that stop you from reading. It's because the scenario between Kellan and Nate seems a bit off that it's actually more believable. People come up with wacky ideas in the heat of the moment and Ms. Mitchell captures the feelings perfectly.

The struggle between Kellan and Nate is epic and realistic. I so wanted these two to get together and have their HEA right now. I mean, right now. Forget the drama and the craziness, but then again, there wouldn't be a book or realism if there wasn't some craziness. I laughed, I cried, I didn't want to let go of either man.

Yeah, I liked it that much.

If you want a book filled with heat, heart, and drama, you need to read Bad Company, but prepare for the song to get stuck in your head. It's a minor price to pay for a great story.

    Excellent

K A Mitchell is by far one of my favorite authors and she excels again with Bad Company. Can't wait for Bad Boyfriends to come out in December. Hey K A...how about an update on Sean and Kyle?

    Definitely a must read!

These two guys were meant for each other. They are brought together in a very realistic and emotional way. It is a book that you will want to read more than once!!

Kellan's a bit of a spoiled brat who's always been indulged, and when he comes to Nate with a plan for using becoming gay/coming out of the closet to get back at his homophobic dad, his childhood friend at first wants nothing to do with it.

Nate's been betrayed by Kellan before, as a teenager, and that wound still hurts. BUT, Kellan is able to dangle a carrot that reporter and socially-conscious Nate is willing to sacrifice his personal grudge for.

The sexual tension between them builds slowly, as Kellan discovers that maybe he's not faking being sexually interested in Nate, after all. And then there's Nate's cat, Quan Yin, who's won over much easily than Nate is.

Explicit M/M sex, and a Happily For Now at the end.

    Great read

I was kind of turned off by the title of this book and put it on my "to be read" list but turns out the Bad Company is not actually referring to either MC but rather the "villian."

Fun characters, sexy and unique in their own way. I'm really glad there are more books in the series so I can keep reading about them!

Reviewed by Christina Marie at The Morning After Romance: Loved

Reviewed by Christina Marie at The Morning After Romance: Loved the characters for their imperfections and hilarity.

I loved Nate and Kellan. They are not, by any means, perfect. They are both flawed selfish jerks with major personality quirks. Nate is a condescending control freak. Kellan is apathetic and lazy. Somehow this works. They should not be likeable characters. But I absolutely loved them.

They both grow over the course of the book. I have a thing for character development. Makes me all hot. And this book mostly focuses on the relationship and the characters, so there was a lot of growth for me to enjoy. I liked watching Nate and Kellan mess everything up. They were lovely in their imperfections. Confused and damaged. They had these realistic reactions that had nothing to do with logic and everything to do with emotion. It was great. They were both just really human.

Also, Nate and Kellan were hilarious. I laughed a lot. This was a great book. If you enjoy character development and imperfectly realistic characters then you will love this!
