Bad Golf My Way

Overview

Working with bestselling humorist Henry Beard (The Official Exceptions to the Rules of Golf, Mulligan's Laws, and Leslie Nielsen's Stupid Little Golf Book), Nielsen has written a truly useful guide to golf based on his revolutionary insight that the key to enjoying the world's most frustrating game is not struggling to play good golf, but rather learning how to play bad golf better.

Lavishly illustrated with more than 150 photographs of the Master himself demonstrating his remarkable swing and his unique playing style, Bad Golf My Way offers step-by-step instruction in all of the secrets of successful high-handicap golf discovered by Nielsen in a lifetime of inept but inventive play. Beginning with the basics like the Darth Vader Death Grip, the Hack, the Slash, and the Smash, and then moving on to more advanced topics like Body English and Body French, the Mind Game (including Inner Outer, Outer Inner, and Outer Outer Golf), the devastatingly effective Fidget, Limp, and Twitch, and unmissable hockey putt, Bad Golf My Way puts hundreds of handy stroke-saving strategies and match-winning tactics at your fingertips, right next to the ball you're planning to surreptitiously drop in the fairway when no one is looking.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
One of the classics of golfdom is Jack Nicklaus's Golf My Way, so it seemed logical to actor Nielsen and Beard, coauthors of Leslie Nielsen's Stupid Little Golf Book, that there should be a comparable volume for duffers. As the authors see it in this hilarious book, the inferior player has three enemies: the ball, the course and the opponent. They offer all manner of suggestions on surreptitiously moving a ball from the deep rough to the short grass or picking up any ball within six feet of the hole, then arguing that you thought it was yours. There are also tips on choosing a club, developing a good-looking swing, getting out of a divot hole, sand trap or water hazard, none of which is of value to the inept player. Best of all is the section on driving, by which the authors mean using the golf cart to maximum advantage, spilling other players out of it or maneuvering so the passenger side is always in some kind of foliage. In addition to the delightful text, there are scores of photos of Nielsen on the course, doing what comes unnaturally.(June)
