    more from this reviewer

    A reviewer

Considering the trauma he experienced when he was thirteen years old and the emotional abuse he suffered at the hands of his father, Billy Shannon grew up to be a fine man and a fantastic police officer. However, a few weeks before the anniversary of his mother¿s death, he begins to dream but they are no ordinary nocturnal reveries. This year he dreams of a woman who was murdered and from his mind he pulls out the real time location of where her body is located. --- He experiences his usual blackout after he goes on his yearly ¿binge¿ but this time the dreams don¿t stop. Two other murders occur to women and in the same manner in which his mom was murdered, a knife in her throat by drifter Herbert Winters. All the evidence points to Shannon as the killer and he keeps dreaming and hearing the whispers of Herbert Winters claiming one of his alter egos are killing the women. Shannon knows he has killed nobody but he also believes Herbert isn¿t the murderer because he killed him when he was thirteen after hours of torture. Someone is out to frame him for the killings and when he figures out why, he will know who and the reason this person has such a malevolent lethal grudge against him. --- David Zeltserman is a talented noir thriller writer who throws one surprise after another at the audience so that they find themselves totally bewildered about what is really happening to the protagonist. Shannon has not had an easy life but his suffering never turned him to the dark side. Instead it made him a strong person determined to see justice is done which is why he became a police officer. The villain is so over the top that he makes the audience feel creepy as if spiders are crawling all over their bodies. This is a must read for thriller fans. --- Harriet Klausner

Excellent thriller and a terrific deal at this price.

Zeltserman does it again, but a little differently than with his great "man out of prison" noir trilogy. While still in the world of criminals and cops, we're taken deep into the world of the mind and beyond. Or are we? Mystery, crime, thriller and horror fans will get their money's worth and more from this intense story. Don't miss it!

    Mediocre

I really found this work fairly mediocre. The characters - the protagonist, the wife, the partner, even the villain - seemed quite flat and evoked little interest or emotion on my part. Frankly, I just didn't feel anything for them. The plot - a policeman suffering from nightmares and blackouts while dealing with murders which have an uncanny resemblance to his mother's murder - initially seemed promising. Unfortunatly, the author elected to play the supernatural - oh, sorry, metaphysical - card, and my interest in the plot diminished as it became increasingly unrealistic. Perhaps the book's description - and the Nook blog entry highlighting the work - should have indicated that this was a supernatural story. That, at least, would have resulted in one fewer disappointed readers.

    Two Thumbs Up

Those of you with tendencies toward the metaphysical will enjoy this novel; others might find it too far-fetched. I thought it was well-paced, highly readable and appropriately moody with a healthy sense of foreboding maintained throughout. Not the greatest ending but this book was definitely hard to put down... I loved it.

I could not put this book down as it got towards the end. I loved the story. I am drawn to "thriller" novels and this one did not disappoint!!

    an excellent read

I think this was the first book I read by Dave Z and I've read all of them. I stayed up all night and read it. All of his books are page turners. The spine tingling astral travel scenes are most vivid. I recommend all of Dave Z's books. I don't know if this one is the best one, but this one is still my favorite. Go ahead and read all of them.

    LAME.

I didn't care for this book. It was boring, took too long to get any sort of action going on and once the action started I figured the book out. Lame.
