I am so happy to find this how-to book on cookie molds with detailed step-by-step instructions. The author, Anne Watson, guides the reader through the proper types of ingredients to use, mold preparation, mixing the ingredients, and removing the cookie from the mold. The purpose of the book is to enable even a novice baker to be successful at baking with cookie molds and enjoy this wonderful hobby. Baking With Cookie Molds starts with a history and use of cookie molds. There is an important section on the types of molds and which type of mold to use. As soon as I received the book I ordered a Brown Bag Cookie Mold and gave her method a try. Her secret for removing the cookie from the mold worked perfectly, and my first attempt was quite successful. I can't wait to try some of the many other recipes in the book. The author's love for sharing her knowledge about these types of cookies is obvious throughout her book, and I highly recommend it.

Baking With Cookie Molds Anne L. Watson Shepard Publications Cooking 5 stars I have read several reviews written on this book and it sounds as the reviewers have work and used cooking molds.. Myself I am writing this review from a complete novice's point of view. The only cookies I can remember as being molded like were the windmill cookies.. I have never seen a cookie mold, or if I did I did not know what they were used for.. When I started reading I got an excellent walk through describing the history of the cookie mold, the different materials used such as wood, resin pottery and the different types , stamps, Springerle molds, cavity or impression. As the author takes the reader through the different molds, and materials used, she also teaches one how to clean them, season them and all round care. Along with a great list of utensils one needs to work in the kitchen while baking molded cookies, she has prepared the reader to get ready to dig in so to speak and give this a try. From some excellent recipes that the author has worked up herself to get them just right for the molds one is going to find such goodies as Apricot Jam Cookies, Creamy Coconut, Honey Speculaas , White Chocolate Lime Cookies and Orange Blossom Wedding and many more. With an amazing array of photo's it would be hard for one to make mistakes. As she takes you step by step not only through word but the photos also. This is a wonderful book not only for the seasoned baker but for the beginner also. I know this book would be a welcome treat for my daughter as she is one that loves to do any of this type of baking. It would be like a challenge to her. If you have never tried this form of making cookies then I would recommend getting this book and giving them a try. The hardest part to my thinking would be acquiring the molds . The rest if you follow the instructions throughout you are on your way to a plate of some beautiful molded cookies.

Baking with Cookie Molds is a book that superseded my expectations. It started with a funny, detailed history of the cookie and the cookie mold. The book explains what is needed for making a mold, and there is loads of pictures of cookie molds from all eras. There is step by step processes for making cookies along with a very detailed instructions, pictures included. Tips and tricks that the author has found helpful through trial and error. The author also gives you lots of recipes and pictures of cookies. I really learned a lot reading this book, I had no idea so much was involved and what an art it is to make these gorgeous treats. The amount of detailed explanations and pictures alone is worth it! Certainly a book for beginner and advanced cook alike! Reviewed this book for NetGalley.

This is a great book for the cookie baker in your family. Tons of history and plenty of sources where you can find these today. It's a quick read, but I've picked it up more than once already. I'm intrigued, and have placed my first order for cookie molds from a current supplier. Can't wait till they arrive.
