Ben Franklin's opposition to the bald eagle as the national bird (he favored the turkey instead) is also explained. The endangerment of bald eagles is also explained, along with steps that have been taken to avoid its extinction. A glossary, a "Did You Know?" section, and a list of references round out this excellent source on bald eagles.
