    Balloons Go Bust

Purchased this for my 11 year old son as a reward for doing well in school. What a disappointment. We were unable to get the balloon pump to inflate the balloons. Deflated does well to describe how we felt after realizing we were not going to see all the wonderful structures depicted in the book. Very upsetting to say the least. The book itself was informative and I had hoped to extend the learning experience by having my son do further research/fact checking on the structures he was most intersted in. My son was first frustrated by the fact that he was unable to get the balloons inflated but then when I could not even get them to work, well!

    Education

I used this in the commission of exposing middle grade students to the field of engineering. This is a great hands-on activity for any educator to employ.

Not as fun as it looks.

I got this kit for my son who wishes to become an architect someday. The designs were fun and interesting, the balloon part didn't work out. We couldn't get a single balloon to inflate more than four inches before it popped. I guess the balloons had grown old and brittle before we bought it. We are going to try to buy some at a local party store to see if we can get "fresher" balloons. Overall it was disappointing and much harder than it looked in the discription. Not for kids, advanced clown and magician school graduated perhaps, but not children.

    What to do with balloons

Lots of fun and a good variety of shapes to create.

Bought this as a Christmas gift

I bought this as a Christmas gift for a family member. He seemed to enjoy it/ get a laugh out of it when he opened it. (He's an architect.) We didn't build any of the structures, but I'm sure it will be fun.
