All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Banana Wind is typical latter-day Jimmy Buffett. Over laid-back, Caribbean-inflected folk-rock, Buffett waxes eloquent over boats, booze, sun, and women. The sound of the album is pleasant, which means it's good for Parrotheads, but casual fans should let this Banana Wind sail on by.

Banana Wind blows right to the heart

Although Banana Wind may be chock full of the lighthearted sing-a-longs and jabs at society that have made this minstrel famous, it's the songwriting of numbers like ''False Echoes,'' a poignant heartwarming ode to his father, that elevates him to the status of ''Neil Young of the Caribbean.
