Overview

The author, Gina Autrey, was born in a small town in South Carolina. She grew up in a loving home with her parents and her sister. Throughout her childhood she was never problematic or in any trouble, she was an honor student at a private Christian school from grades 6. She got married at the age of 18 and started her family soon after.

So how did this good, wholesome, caring mother of two end up in prison?

This is the story of one woman's painful journey from the lowest depths of imprisonment to a life of renewed determination and independence; finding within herself the strength to overcome the betrayal and abandonment by those whom she thought she could love and trust. She rose from the depths of imprisonment to become an independent, hard working, loving mother who still takes time to help and encourage those who are incarcerated. She has become an advocate for those who are too afraid to speak up for themselves and a friend to those in need. Life changing experience, keep in mind that there are many others just like her who are still behind bars.

The book was great. I was so into reading I could not put it down. It was a very good book about real life events people face every day. If you have ever had a loved one or someone you know go to prison this book will really open up your views on what goes on behind the bars.

I have been going through a divorce and when I read this book I realized that it could be so much worse - this woman went through prison and a divorce at the same time. She made mistakes in her life but she overcame them and she rebuilt her life and she has custody of her daughter - her love for her children really shows through. This was a real, gritty, at times heart-wrenching book. A great read. Get the Kleenex - you will need it!

I do not normally cry when I read a book, but I did when I read this one. It was heart wrenching in parts and you can just feel the pain and heartache that the main character exudes as she goes through ordeal after ordeal. This book is a must read for anyone who has ever made a mistake and had to pay for it dearly. It is also a must read for any women who has suffered emotional and mental abuse at the hands of a controllilng husband. I loved this book. I recommend this book very highly. 5 stars!!!

I read this book in two days - once I started reading it I could not put it down. The main character, while flawed herself, well you just start to really pull for her about 1/4 way into this story. It makes you think about alot of things. I really enjoyed this and highly recommend it to others. Great story of overcoming your mistakes and rebuilding your life. Kudos to the author.
