Banjos That Destroyed the World, Vol. 2

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Johnny Loftus
The format of 1995's Banjos That Destroyed the World holds. Sporting cover art suggestive of those hokey '60s alien movies -- the ones where military might smashes a giant green alien, thereby sating America's fears of death by Cold War button pushing -- Banjos That Destroyed the World, Vol. 2 features frenetic banjo and fiddle-led runs through a clutch of bluegrass classics and bluegrassed-up versions of pop faves. There are lighthearted and typically rapid-fire instrumental versions of "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" and "Lyin' Eyes" by the Nashville Superpickers -- they border on novelty, but are nonetheless well played. Vol. 2 is rounded out by an obligatory version of "Dueling Banjos."
