    Classic Westerns

Very good collection of stories involving the legendary Hopalong Cassidy and the Bar 20 outfit. This book is written by a very good author who knpws how to blend tragedy with comedy. Some of these chapters are very tragic and violent, while others are very violent. Because of that, it is best that mature readers only read this. This is not for young bucks. Since this was written over a hundred years ago and uses broken English at times, it may be hard to understand at first. But you will get used to it before long. I recommend this to fans of classic Westerns.

    A great read!

I read this and other original Clarence Mulford's Hopalong Cassidy books within a two week span. They are so much more "realistic" for the time and place the stories take place in, then are the later books and movies that are available, except for the few early Hopalong Cassidy books written by Louis L'Amour. Yes, I know that the politically correct folks will object to the "racist" terms and slight cursing used by the charactors but they are appropriate for the time and place, more authentic. You can't keep denying that people spoke a certain way in the past. I enjoyed the red-haired Hoppy that smoked, drank a bit and enjoyed a good fight much more then the ultra clean-cut William Boyd image with silver hair, white horse, black clothing, never drank or enjoyed a life that could end abruptly in that era, from so many causes!

Wow, I had great hopes for this book. Unfortunately it is the book equivalent of "Plan 9 from Outer Space"
Open any page, any sentence and it is almost completely unreadable. Hard to believe a Hop-along book would be so incredible bad. This will certainly be a collectors item as the worst, most completely disjointed literary work in history.
