Meet the Author

Stefanie Deutsch started collecting Barbies in 1980 when she was still a schoolgirl in Germany. In 1986, she formed the first official Barbie collector club for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. During Barbie's 30th anniversary in 1989, Stefanie's dolls were exhibited in major Mattel-organized exhibitions throughout Germany and Switzerland. After graduation from law school, Stefanie and her family immigrated to America, where, in 1992, she wrote her first Barbie book.

Bettina Dorfman has been collecting Barbies since 1995. In 2007, she made her second appearance in the Guinness book of records for having the world's biggest Barbie collection (over 2,500 vintage dolls). She operates a doll repair clinic, and is a well-known expert and appraiser of Barbies and other pre-1920s dolls. She continues to pen articles for doll magazines, and is the author of two Barbie books.
