Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Rosa Roberts
What do sheep do on April Fool's Day? If you are anything like the sheep in this hilarious picture book, you play many tricks on all the farm animals. The rooster's alarm is set one hour ahead, some fake snakes are hidden as a surprise snack for the dog, and the cow's spots are connected by having the dots painted to form smiling faces throughout its body. It is not until the horse steps in, that poetic justice takes place against the prankster. The horse promises to shear the sheep's wool for the summer and lo and behold what a surprise ending! Each of the pranks is a rhyming sentence and the repetition of "April Fool's!" with each of the sheep shenanigans. The accompanying illustrations are amusing and engaging for young readers. This picture book would make a great read aloud for April Fool's Day and be a welcome addition to a school library collection. Laughs are guaranteed! Reviewer: Rosa Roberts
