    average

This book is one of those average books that give you some helpful suggestions on how to take the SAT 1/PSAT. I went to courses and I have used this book on my own. It is somewat boring and plain. Nothing special about this book. Im not saying its bad but if you dun't mind beng bored then this book is good or if you plan to study for the SATs and you still have about 1/2 a year to prepare then you should use this book.

    the BEST book!!

this book is the best SAT preparation imaginable!! although many other people i know took princeton review and kaplan courses, i just studied this book and my score went up from a 1280 to a 1520!! this book is the best preparation for the SAT because it doesn't just tell you tactics, it gives you tons of practice so you feel confindent about your abilities! its great!

Not worth it get the Princeton Review

The only redeeming quality of this book for the money I paid was the vocabulary list. That was extensive however it was not arranged in an order that made it easy to memorize. It tatics were banal and I kept thinking to myself that's such common sense. The explanations were hazy and there were many mistakes in the text. the practice questions are also nothing like the real thing. They are confusing in the book and do not provide good practice for the SATs.

    this book REALLY helped

OK--almost all of my friends took courses like Princeton and Kaplan, and most of them didn't go up at all, or just a little bit. I didn't take a course, but I studied this book almost every day for about two months and I REALLY, REALLY improved. I know my PSAT scores were kind of lousy (970), but my SAT scores rocked: 1330!!! Everything in this book helped, but what I really liked was all the math TACTICS that showed me how to do problems I never would have gotten on my own. I don't usually write reviews, but I had to tell you: if you want top scores GET THIS BOOK!!!

    The Best

This is the ONLY study guide I used to prepare. I had taken the PSAT twice and the SAT once before buying the book. Before, I didn't even qualify for National Merit. After the book, my SAT went up 200 points and my PSAT went up 25! I got a $25,000 scholarship. Obviously, I highly recommend this book!

A review on 'Barron's How to Prepare for the Sat I'

if need a book to study for the SATI, then DO NOT purchase this book. its the same thing as the 19th edition, and it has nothing useful in it. the 'tactics' are things you would already know. the only thing that is even slightly good about this book are the vocabulary flash- cards(thats the only reason you should even look at this book). Buying this book would be a waste of time.

    INSTANT SAT PREP

ok, i know word of mouth may not seem compelling enough to get you to get this book, but all i have to say is, this has GOT to be the BEST BOOK FOR PREPARING FOR THE SAT I!! I mean, i bought this book one or two months before i took the SAT I. So i skimmed through most of the book, and just kept on practicing...When i began studying from this Barron's book i had a SAT I score of 1190-1210. I didnt finish studying from this book before i took the SAT I. However, it didnt matter, because it gave me harder problems that would make the actual SAT EASIER!!. My final score for the SAT I jumped up a total of almost 100 points!! from 1190 to a final score of 1300!! So, if your looking for a book that gives you good questions thats harder than the SAT I, get this books and you'll have no regrets!!
