Barry Sandersby Samuel Willard Crompton
Barry Sanders was fun to watch. No one ever ran as consistently fast as Sanders. No one has equaled his amazing twists, turns, and jukes-moves that left defenders gasping. Adding to the delicious quality of his athleticism was his unself-conscious manner of carrying it all out. Throughout the 1990s, he was Detroit Lions football. He played hard for a team that was up one year, down the next, occasionally close to greatness, but never quite there. The same could not be said for Sanders. His greatness was constant, season after season. Then, at the height of his career as a running back, he left the game. Sanders went out on top, and there he remains in the minds of his many fans.
