Yumi Tamura broke into the manga world with a bang, winning the 1983 Shogakukan Grand Prize for new artists. Since then she has gone on to write many extremely popular shojo manga stories such as the hit series TOMOE GA YUKU (There Goes Tomoe), ANO NATSU GA OWAITA (That Summer has Ended), and X-DAY. But the title that solidified her reputation as a top shojo manga artist was the breakthrough fantasy/action manga smash BASARA. Always one to experiment in action/adventure formats, CHICAGO is Tamura's latest completed work.
Sarasa has been blinded, and the Red King's rule has finally been torn apart by outside influences. Now both find themselves in Okinawa--she to heal her eyes, he to heal his soul.

Yumi Tamura's Basara is masterful. The artwork may seem choppy at times, but the backgrounds and layouts are beautifully executed. The plot is easy to follow, but complicated for the characters with unpredictable twists and turns. I highly enjoy reading and collecting this series, and is by far my favorite manga. If you see this title on the shelf, don't hesitate to buy it and you won't be disappointed!
