Baseball, Bullies and Angels
Stephen is a typical 13 year old boy who just wants to find his place in the world, but his difficulties in school, both socially and academically, have him feeling the pressure.
When a group of students make Stephen the target of their bullying he struggles even more to make sense of his life. With all the pressure and pain he feels each day, he still searches for hope. He finds some in his best friend Charlie who tries to show him the humor in it all. And a kind gesture from Megan, the new girl in class, helps to spark a connection between two kindred spirits. But when everything is at its worst he always finds hope in baseball.
Stephen’s talents as a young baseball player are well beyond the average Little Leaguer; he is an up and coming star. But as his flame grows brighter, one particular competitor and classmate doesn’t like getting overshadowed. He and his friends set a plan in motion that could destroy Stephen’s dreams of playing baseball in the future. The Bully Gang has worked hard to bend Stephen before, but now they want to break him.

About the Author

Daryl Cobb lives in New Jersey with his family, not far from his childhood hometown. Daryl’s writing began in college as a Theatre Arts major at Virginia Commonwealth University. He found a freshman writing class inspiring and, combined with his love for music and the guitar, he discovered a passion for songwriting. This talent would motivate him for years to come and the rhythm he created with his music also found its way into the bedtime stories he later created for his children. Through the years his son and daughter have inspired much of his work, including “Boy on the Hill”, “Daniel Dinosaur” and “Daddy Did I Ever Say? I Love You, Love You, Every Day”.
When Daryl isn’t writing or plucking on his guitar he is visiting schools promoting literacy with his interactive educational assemblies. Daryl is one of New Jersey’s premier educational performers whose use of performance arts to teach and entertain has educators and assembly coordinators everywhere consistently calling his school programs “the best of the best.” These performance programs teach children about the writing and creative processes and allow Daryl to do what he feels is most important -- inspire children to read and write.
