In the world of baseball books, this is the grand slam!

Are you wondering about that call the umpire made during last night¿s game? Or are you completely new to the game, but your significant other is a diehard baseball fan so you just want to get a basic understanding of the game? Whether you¿re a die-hard fan of America¿s pastime, a complete newbie to the sport, or somewhere in between, Baseball Field Guide is a must have. This book, without a doubt, is the one to get whether you want to learn the basics of the game, or just want some clarification on an ambiguous rule. The book is extremely well organized and easy to read, covering everything from the most basic rules to the complex ones. It starts with a very basic explanation of baseball 'which, if you live in the U.S., Canada, or anywhere else where baseball is a popular sport, you might be tempted to skip', but then moves on to more and more detailed and complex issues, leaving no stone unturned. The book explains everything in plain English, so you¿ll understand what the authors are talking about even if you don¿t know a lot of baseball slang. Along with the explanations, there are lots of pictures and diagrams depicting what is explained in the text, including field dimensions and equipment 'bat, ball, gloves etc.' specifications. The book goes into great detail here you¿ll be amazed how specific the rules of Major League Baseball get when it comes to equipment and field specifications. Among other things, you¿ll find out how long a bat must be, what is and isn¿t allowed to be displayed on jerseys, and exactly how many stitches a baseball must have. Fascinating stuff! I highly recommend Baseball Field Guide regardless of how much you know about baseball. Whether you¿re a novice or an expert, this book is simply the best there is.
