Young Readers Will Learn About Baseball Through Simple Sentences And Highly Supportive Pictures.
School Library JournalGr 1-2–Beginning readers will enjoy this series as they see enthusiasts their own age participating in familiar sports. Both boys and girls are photographed in each title except for Cheerleading. In large font on a white background, each spread features simple declarative sentences (“I hold the bat and swing. I hit the ball”) that match the picture on the opposing page. The glossaries provide simple explanations along with the pronunciations of the selected words. While there is little substantive information here, these titles will fill the need for nonfiction books at the lowest vocabulary level.
