I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review. This is a fantastic thriller/suspense story.  Alexa Martinez is a wonderful character. She is a loving wife and mother, but she is also a deadly trained killer. She, along with her family, is caught up in a deadly nightmare when an enemy from Alexa's past decides to exact their revenge. This is a fast paced, page turning story that swept me up and held me in it's grip until I reached the end. At the beginning, I was a little bit confused as to how the danger arose. But through a series of flashbacks from both Alexa and her husband Alejandro's (Dro for short) points of view, as well as a few other characters, I began to understand. There are a lot of characters in this book, and it was a bit difficult to remember who was who. The Martinez's are a very influential and powerful family. Think "Mafia-like", and you'll get the idea. The ending of the book has a massive twist that I didn't see coming. The only thing that has kept me from giving this book a five is that I found that I couldn't identify with the main characters as I should have. I found I couldn't feel sympathy for their plight. There's an old saying, "If you play with fire, you're going to get burnt." and they were certainly playing with fire! However, they do have redeeming qualities, and I suppose everyone is allowed a second chance at least once in their lives. L.R. Wright has written an intriguing thriller/suspense story that I thoroughly enjoyed. A word of warning: This book does contain scenes of violence/danger and those of a sensual nature. Although only mildly explicit, the love scenes are quite hot. Therefore, I do not recommend this book for younger readers. However, if you love an intriguing thriller/suspense, this one's for you. - Lynn Worton

I've had that dream that gave me the answer or a dream that woke me up and something was about to happen, so this book had me in the first few pages. I love suspense and drama. This book had both with a love story. I totally enjoyed reading about her characters and the way she went back in time, to fill in how the complicated relationships came to be. A woman assassin as a teenager, now that's a new character. Looking forward for a prequel or sequel. These characters have more to say!

Alexa Richardson-Martinez is a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and a trained killer. While she’s put her work aside to concentrate on raising her family, things turn in an instant when she realizes that they are all in danger. Unfortunately, with such a vast resume, Alexa and her family are unable to pinpoint where the threat is coming from. As the story switches from past to present day, we’re privy to a teenage Alexa; her brother Lei; close friends, Chase, Kendrick and Dro, and how they grew up. You learn that as children they were already destined to live a certain way. As they fell into their destinies, they also determined to make things better. Now that someone is out to get them, will they be able to identify and remove the threat before it’s too late? What I enjoyed was the intensity of the story. BASEMENT LEVEL 5: NEVER SCARED is on some serious Bond-ish. What I didn’t like about the story is that you don’t right away meet the entire cast. You almost want to ask if there was a BASEMENT LEVEL 1 that you didn’t know about. So as the story goes, you feel as if you’re behind the curtain. As the story goes into past mode, Alexa’s the lone female and her safety is each of the guy’s main concern. However, it doesn’t seem probable. As teens, it’s a little difficult seeing them as this sophisticated hit team with more power than the law. Also, it would be best if the author used a Spanish translation for Spanish words versus telling us what so and so spoke, in Spanish. While I liked BASEMENT LEVEL 5: NEVER SCARED by L. R. Wright, there were issues in editing that definitely need to be addressed. I also did not care for the nice and tidy ending. Reviewed by: Crystal

What a great book! I loved how LRWright went back and forth in time, it made for an intense and enjoyable read. She introduced The Martinez clan great so I was able to really fall in love with them. I am really excited to read more about the family hopefully in a series. I have to say again great read!
