Description: This uniquely designed book focuses on describing the pathological basis of electrocardiography as it applies to clinical topics rather than describing the background and physiology of electrocardiography.
Purpose: It is an introduction to electrocardiography for multiple levels of healthcare providers.
Audience: The intended audience includes healthcare providers of all levels, such as allied health professionals, medical students, physicians in training, and practicing clinicians.
Features: Six chapters devoted to the basic foundations of electrocardiography; anatomy, electrophysiology, and determining electrical axis. Remaining chapters discuss important topics including conduction defects, tachycardias, acute coronary syndromes, and cardiac pacemakers. The excellent schematic diagrams make the concepts much easier to understand. Detailed explanations of the important take-home points on the electrocardiograms used as examples are provided, with good illustration and annotations to clarify.
Assessment: This is a well done book on a difficult topic. The writing style makes it an easy read. In addition, there are many nicely annotated illustrations. This is a useful addition to the library of anyone wishing to gain a better understanding of electrocardiography.
