The Berklee Practice Method Series is just simply Fantastic! I am a high school band director and I recommended these books to many students and I have in turn watched them and their groups really grow as musicians and as individual ensembles. I think it was a great idea to create such a comprehensive, collective, yet individualized method to improving both one's musicianship and their knowledge about playing with a band. It is so great how each book comes with a reference CD, i found students thought that this was really helpful because it can be hard to learn a new complex instrument with no guidelines. Also, I really enjoyed how each chapter was broken down into sections: Theory, Learning the Groove, Improv, Reading, and Daily Practice Routine. Its wonderful that the authors of each book explain in detail the specfics of different songs and techniques and take an even bigger step to provide ways to practice these new tools. I highly recommend this book to any person/group who is getting started with music and is looking to learn in a fun and innovative way. A+!
