K-Gr 4-Bastet, a golden cat, shares her life on the streets of Cairo, Egypt, with her best friend, Sabah. Khufu, a pampered cat, tries to lure Bastet away with the promise of getting into the Egyptian Museum to see Tutankhamen's golden mask, a dream Bastet and Sabah shared. If Bastet goes without Sabah, will the fulfillment of her dream be as meaningful? This is a story off friendship, loyalty, and choices. This iconographic rendering of the book written by Linda Talley and illustrated by Itoko Maeno is read by a pleasant-voiced female. There is mildly Middle-Eastern orchestral music as background. The camera work is clean and the colors are true to the book. As the credits roll, the video ends with a short song about friendship. Even very young children will understand this simple story. The Egyptian setting will please those looking for multicultural offerings. This video will be useful as a discussion starter on friendship, values, problem solving, conflict resolution and trust.-Marilyn Hersh, Hillside Elementary School, Farmington Hills, MI Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information.
