I've truly enjoyed the Batgirl series since the New 52 starting line. Gail Simone writes Barbara Gordon as witty, intelligent, and human. The Batgirl line is well worth buying if you are an experienced comic book reader or if you're just looking to get started.

This will keep you geeking out hours after you're done reading it. Great writing, great art, and several well done twists. I loved every page and I can't wait for the next installment. DC does not have an incredible record for female empowerment in their lines, but Batgirl is a wonderful exception. She is a great example of how a woman can be strong, independent, and smart without falling into the trap of overly masculine. She is vulnerable, sensitive, and scared without falling into the trap of being a damsel in distress.

Of all the comic book superhero characters, Batgirl is second only to Batman.
