Anyone interested in Batman's timeline from Year One should pick this one up, as it picks up right after Frank Miller's classic, Batman: Year One. Acting as a sequel to that book and also as a companion to The Killing Joke, Joker mysteriously appears in Gotham as a maniacal killer letting loose a rampage on certain politicians. Batman must track this psychopathic lunatic down before it's too late and who the media dubs as 'The Joker''s plan is revealed, poisoning Gotham City's reservoirs. Joker's first appearance and battle with Bats!

Batman's first clash with the Joker is certainly not his most memorable.

A large portion of enjoying this novel is keeping in mind that this is supposed to be the first time Batman ever encountered Joker. A lot of what makes this novel interesting is the mystery of The Joker's characters.

I wouldn't, however, recommend this to someone as a first batman/joker novel.

The Killing Joke is much more suitable for a first.

Overall the art was fun to look at as always with Batman comics.
